The Stretch Mobility Coach BeckettRidge I teach you how!

You didn't just get tight overnight ,and what you are doing right now to improve flexibility and mobility, may not be what your body needs to release the tightness to allow you to move freely again throughout your life.

YOUR KNEE PAIN THAT JUST SHOWED UP CAN BE RESOLVED FAST.
Walking is usually the last place you will feel when you have a joint restriction in the knee. This knee restriction is your knee locking up.

The earlier signals are activities . Deep knee bends. Going down the stairs one foot per step without the rail. Getting down to the floor and back up without holding on. If those feel stiff, harder, or you catch yourself thinking before you move, those are signals that your body is sending you asking for support.

The natural response is to start avoiding those movements. Don't do that. Every bend you modify around is range you stop using, and joint mobility your body will continue to take away from you. You can unlock this restriction. To unlock a restriction, you will first need to identify it.

I test knee movement to see if your body is locking your knee down. Once I find this in my testing, I can then restore the movement in the knee and you will feel like you can move again without that pain.

Send this to someone who has started complaining about their knee.

DO YOU KNOW THE SIGNS OF A RESTRICTED HIP JOINT?

Most people have never been told their hip joint is restricted. What they get told is that their glutes don't fire, or their hip flexor is tight, or they have IT band syndrome, or their piriformis is the problem.

Those are muscle findings. They come from muscle testing. That is what the standard workup is built to look for.

What that workup does not do is measure how much movement is still available inside the joint itself. Nobody hands you that number. So you can walk out with a name for what you feel and still have no idea how much of your hip mobility you have already lost.

That gap matters, because muscles respond to what the joint is doing. When the joint is restricted, the muscles around it change how they work. Treating the muscle without ever measuring the joint means you are managing the symptom and guessing at the rest.

You do not have to guess. Your hip mobility can be tested and it can be scored, and once you have that number you know exactly what you are working with.

If you counted two or more of these signs in yourself, that is worth testing.

Send this to someone who has been told their glutes don't fire.

SITTING IS NOT WHY YOUR HIPS ARE TIGHT! When new clients come in to see me they always blame their job, their lack of stretching or their lack of working out on why their hips are tight.
I am not sure where this information came from. Sitting in the research has never been proven to shorten your muscles, their length and your hips did not get tight because you sit for long periods of time.
In this video I show you what is happening to your joints and muscles. If you listen and want more information, feel free to reach out. If you have friends or family that are reporting they have lost hip mobility or can't do moves they used to be able to do, please consider sharing this post.

WHY DO I FEEL WEAK AND TIRED TODAY?
After 50 most of us believe we can go as strong and hard as we use to. But we realize that things have changed so much in our bodies that weakness is now creeping in when we feel we should be strong.
Most people consider this to be a normal part of aging. I find weakness to be associated with loss of mobility. Consider how hard your nervous system has to work when it is constantly in protective mode. It has its regular job to do, then on top of that your joints in your low back, hips, knees, feet, spine and shoulders are under protective guarding so your nervous system is always working. Add the fact that we are always moving, doing things to stay busy, constantly overstimulated with our phones and other devices. Have you ever considered that weakness is more than just your strength or lack there of?
Weakness is associated also with your nervous systems protective response and if you don't know how to dial that protective response down, your nervous system will do it for you. When it does, you will feel weak doing something you just did yesterday. This is not normal aging, in fact it has to do more with the health of your nervous system. Want to learn more? STAND UP AND WALK AFTER SITTING FOR LONG PERIODS. Sitting may not be shortening your muscles but it is doing something for your overall health.
Many people think that sitting is bad for them, and it is definitly not good for your overall health, movement fixes that. By standing up and moving after 45 min sitting, you can counteract the pressure placed on the femoral artery, but that doesn't help you with that hip tightness that you feel.
Health and Healthy movement are not equal in fact, health in general can be improved by changing your eating habits. Healthy movement looks at the deeper movement system and tests its function and capacity. Once you determine how much capacity and function you have lost, you can then be strategic to restore what was lost and preserve the health of your movement system. Follow me for more healthy movement tips.

WHAT IN THE WORLD DID I DO TO MY KNEE?
I woke up this morning with knee pain and I don't recall doing anything to cause that pain.
"I hear this or some form of this daily in my Beckett Ridge Studio"
You are not imagining it, you have pain that seems to come out of no where. And this pain seems to get worse and better. depending on the day.
I think and teach on pain differently. Pain is a signal from your movement system. When you support that system, the pain will resolve, when you stop moving that area you will lose the healthy movement in that area.
Pain signals from out of no where are not necessarily an injury. When you fall or trip or injure yourself that pain is very different and that pain is treated differently by a medical professional.
When you have pain out of no where for no reason, you can test to see what is happening and resolve that pretty quickly, putting it off will cause you to lose key joint mobility. Comment "What happened". and I will connect and help you figure things out.

WHAT IS HAPPENING? I WOKE UP TODAY WITH KNEE PAIN OR TIGHTNESS BUT I DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO CAUSE THIS PAIN.
I hear this statement constantly, not just for the knee, but for different joints in the body.
Not everyone has pain, some say this about tightness, but it happens enough that I thought I should share this statement with you, today.
I think of pain differently than most do. The movement system, signals you when it needs support and it does this through various signals. Most of us don't understand these signals can be supported and that we can support our movement system while keeping it healthy.
Why, because we are taught that pain is bad, and that pain should be treated.
To me pain is a signal, and this signal can be dimmed and ultimately diminished when we address why our body is sending that signal. Now when I refer to pain, I am referring to musculoskeletal pain that comes out of no where.
Don't confuse this pain, with acute pain or an injury. Those pains are completely different and require different care.
If you woke up today with a pain, that you can't figure out what happened. I can help you figure that out. DM me Pain and we connect and test your joints to see if there are things that you can do to stop this cycle of decline.

YOU STAND UP AFTER SITTING A WHILE AND NOW IT TAKES YOU A MOMENT TO STRAIGHTEN UP TO STAND TALL
This is common after 50, but not because you are over 50.
This weeks podcast I break down everything sitting, for those of us that are now over 50 and feeling like our bodies are slowly declining.
What I found in the research will surprise you, it sure surprised me, but it is what I have been seeing in my studio in Beckett Ridge Ohio for 14 years now.
What to listen to the show? Comment Youtube or Podcast and I will share the links with you.

Sitting is not the reason your hips feel tight. That was the part I had to unlearn.

If you’ve been blaming sitting, save this and share it with someone who needs a reset.
What the research showed me is this:
Sitting can affect blood flow and glucose handling within an hour.
But it does not automatically mean your hip flexors or hamstrings are “shortening.”
A lot of what feels like tightness is bigger than stretching—think joint function, nervous system protection, and muscle loss over time.
That changed how I look at movement after 40.
Stop waiting for pain to tell you something is off. Tightness, stiffness, and moving differently are the early signals.

What have you been told about sitting—and do you still believe it?

09/11/2026

If your hips feel tight, it’s easy to blame sitting—but the picture may be more complex.
Stretching, strengthening, and regular movement can support your range of motion. But tightness can also involve deeper structures around the joint and protective signals from the nervous system.
In this video, I’m looking at what sitting actually does to the hip flexors, how long it may take for changes to occur, and what to consider if your job keeps you seated for much of the day.
Save this post for the next time you’re tempted to blame every ache on sitting.
