Years ago, I implemented a habit of taking off from work on my birthday and for our wedding anniversary.
There typically arenโt any big, special plans. No trips or packed itineraries.
Itโs simply an opportunity to step away and give focus and gratitude for the life I get to live and the marriage weโve built.
There will always be another email, meeting, deadlineโฆ another thing that feels like it needs our attention right now.
However life is happening right alongside all of it.
Today, my husband and I celebrate 20 years of marriage. And while we donโt have some grand adventure planned, I canโt think of anywhere more important for me to be than right here, fully present for it.
I love my work. I care deeply about what I do. And Iโve also learned that stepping away from it doesnโt make me less committed.
It reminds me what Iโm working so hard for in the first place.
Take the day.
Celebrate the birthday.
Honor the anniversary.
Make the memory.
We work hard for a life we love. Donโt forget to take time to live it. โค๏ธ
