Throwback to younger Sam 🥹 I remember being SO excited because I genuinely felt like I had found something that was mine. ✨💪🏽
Long post warning because apparently we’re getting a little deep today 😅
A lot of you know pieces of my story, but very few know all of it. When I say fitness changed the trajectory of my life, I genuinely mean it.
And honestly, not because it changed my body. The physical changes and health benefits became an added bonus to everything else fitness gave me.
I came from a pretty tough and unstable background, and there were periods where I felt incredibly lost. There was a lot outside of my control and a lot of hurt, anger, loneliness and uncertainty I didn’t know what to do with.
Then I found fitness.
I had somewhere positive to put all of it. Something to look forward to. Something to work toward. Something that was MINE.
Fitness gave me purpose, direction, structure and, most importantly, a sense of control and stability when my life felt anything but.
Little by little, that spilled into the rest of my life. I started caring more about myself and my future. I gained confidence, made different choices, surrounded myself with different people and started believing I was capable of more. It also brought some of the greatest people into my life who are still here today.
THAT is my why.
Fitness has never been surface level for me. When I say movement can change someone’s life, I’m not just talking about losing weight, building muscle or looking different.
Sometimes it’s confidence, community, discipline or an outlet. Sometimes it’s simply an hour that belongs completely to YOU.
Fitness didn’t magically fix my life or erase what I had been through. But it gave me the environment, people, tools and eventually the belief in myself to start changing my own life.
And that’s a huge part of why I do what I do today. If I can help someone find even a piece of what fitness gave me, then what I do means a hell of a lot more than just putting someone through a workout.
There’s a whole lot more behind my WHY than just a workout. ♥️
Over a decade later, still doing the damn thing. 💪🏽👏🏽🫶🏽✨
