This weekend I checked off a short-term goal that I’d had for a while—I competed in all four of my divisions at an IBJJF Open and, by God’s grace, came away with gold in all four.

As proud as I am of that accomplishment, the truth is…I didn’t do it alone.

Behind every hour I spent coaching our team, preparing for my own matches, and spending nearly 24 hours at the venue over two days, there was someone carrying the load at home.

While I was focused on my goals, she was focused on our life. She’s a full-time government employee, a full-time doctoral candidate, CrossFit Athlete, helps keep our businesses moving forward, manages our property, oversees the construction of our new home, takes care of our kids, and somehow still finds a way to support everyone around her. This weekend she quietly shouldered even more so I could chase a goal that mattered to me.
