WGO KENDALL | 10 FAILED. IS THAT NORMAL?

Oswego Police checked 43 establishments during the final weekend of August, with 10 businesses cited for allegedly selling alcohol to minors — roughly a 23% failure rate.

Now WGO wants the records behind the headline.

We're seeking the individual citation details, penalties and prior compliance-check results to determine whether this was simply another enforcement weekend — or a significant jump in businesses allegedly selling alcohol to underage buyers.

The historical numbers give us a reason to ask.

These number becomes much more interesting with historical context. Oswego Police annual-report data show alcohol compliance violations were once much lower: 2 violations among 55 checks in 2018, 2 among 23 in 2019, 1 among 50 in 2020 and 2 among 37 in 2021.

Go back further and 2013 recorded 2 violations in 43 checks — coincidentally the same number of establishments checked during this latest operation

And there's another piece worth examining: Oswego's rules allow administrative action against liquor license holders, with consequences escalating for repeat offenses and potentially reaching suspension or revocation.

Who failed, have any failed before, what happens next — and why did roughly one out of every four establishments checked allegedly make the sale?

THE MATCHUP

Two games. Two wins. And Yorkville hasn’t trailed for a single second yet.

The Foxes opened 2026 with a 25–15 win over Crete-Monee, then turned Week 2 into a statement, rolling past Joliet West 37–6. Yorkville is averaging 31 points per game while allowing just 10.5, with a 62–21 scoring advantage through two weeks.

Bolingbrook arrives at 1–1, but forget the perfectly even 37 points scored and 37 allowed. Those totals hide two completely different nights.

The Raiders were shut out 31–0 by Homewood-Flossmoor in Week 1.

Eight days later, they flipped the script and hammered Simeon 37–6.

From losing by 31…to winning by 31.

That makes Friday less about Bolingbrook’s record and more about one question:

Which Bolingbrook team shows up in Yorkville?

THE FOXES

Yorkville’s biggest strength so far has been balance.

They haven’t needed a shootout. They haven’t needed a miracle comeback. They haven’t even needed to play from behind.

Against Joliet West, Yorkville piled up 191 rushing yards and 121 passing yards while building complete control of the game.

The individual numbers reinforce that balance:

Gavin Geegan is averaging 83.5 rushing yards per game and already has three touchdowns.

Joel Castillo is averaging 113 receiving yards per game.

And defensively, senior linebacker Dillon Viscogliosi is averaging 10 tackles per game.

That combination matters against Bolingbrook. Yorkville doesn’t have to force one player to carry Friday night. The Foxes can run it, attack outside, control field position and lean on a defense that has surrendered only 21 points.

THE RAIDERS

Bolingbrook is considerably more dangerous than a normal 1–1 team.

Week 1 showed the vulnerability: when Homewood-Flossmoor disrupted them, the Raiders never got anything going offensively and were blanked 31–0.

Week 2 showed the opposite extreme.

Against Simeon, Bolingbrook exploded for 37 points and allowed only six.

That turnaround is exactly why Yorkville can’t treat this like another early-season opponent.

The Raiders have enough athleticism and explosiveness to make Yorkville pay for mistakes. Give them short fields, missed tackles or busted coverage and suddenly the methodical game Yorkville wants becomes something completely different.

And Yorkville already knows that firsthand.

HISTORY + THE X-FACTOR

These teams met last season in Bolingbrook.

Yorkville entered that night 7–1.

Bolingbrook won 26–21.

The Raiders scored 14 fourth-quarter points to turn a close game their way, handing Yorkville one of only three losses during its 2025 season.

So there’s a little unfinished business sitting underneath this Week 3 matchup.

The biggest key Friday is simple:

Make Bolingbrook play Yorkville football.

Don't give away possessions.

Don't surrender cheap explosive plays.

Make the Raiders string together long drives.

Force them to win snap after snap instead of letting athleticism turn one mistake into six points.

If this becomes a controlled, physical four-quarter game, that favors Yorkville.

If it becomes chaotic?

That gives Bolingbrook life.

🔮 WGO PREDICTION

Bolingbrook’s Week 2 response deserves respect. A team doesn’t go from being shut out to scoring 37 points without having legitimate weapons.

But Yorkville has shown something the Raiders haven't yet:

consistency.

The Foxes have been physical, balanced and disciplined through two games. More importantly, they've controlled both games rather than simply surviving them.

We think Bolingbrook lands a couple of punches.

We think last year’s 26–21 result gives the Raiders plenty of confidence walking into Yorkville.

But eventually, Yorkville’s defense limits the explosive plays and the Foxes take control.

Bolingbrook makes it uncomfortable for a while.

Yorkville answers.

The Foxes protect home field, avenge last season’s loss and move to 3–0.

WGO BREAKING | SECOND TEEN DIES AFTER CREST HILL SHOOTING

A second 18-year-old has died following Saturday night's shooting in Crest Hill that left four teenagers wounded.

Jamari Finch, 18, of Joliet, has died after initially being airlifted to a Chicago hospital in critical condition, according to the Will County Medical Examiner.

His death comes days after Kamarion L. Coleman, 18, of Woodridge, was pronounced dead following the same shooting.

Police responded around 11 p.m. Saturday to reports of gunfire in the 1900 block of Willow Court, near Crest Hill Memorial Park. Officers found four teenagers suffering from gunshot wounds.

A 15-year-old and 16-year-old were also wounded. Their injuries were previously described as non-life-threatening, and ABC7 reports the two are expected to recover.

Investigators have said the shooting was connected to a gathering at the park and was not believed to be random. Authorities have not publicly explained what led to the gunfire.

The Crest Hill Police Department and Will/Grundy Major Crimes Task Force continue investigating.

This is a significant development in a case WGO has followed since the initial shooting.

Four teenagers were shot. Two 18-year-olds are now dead.
