We’re proud of these finalist rings. Every one of our girls earned one. 👊
Buzz Salinas went 4-1 this weekend and showed real growth from game one to game five. We saw stronger at-bats, big defensive plays, better communication, more fight, and a group of athletes beginning to understand what it takes to compete at a high level.
But that championship game left a bitter taste.
Not because we finished second. There is no shame in fighting your way into the championship and bringing home hardware. The sting came from knowing there was more in us... more composure, more discipline, more trust, and more softball left to play.
And we learned something else this weekend.
There are different ways teams try to win.
Some rely on bats, gloves, pitching and ex*****on.
Some add noise, pressure and intimidation to the mix.
Buzz Salinas will keep doing what Buzz Salinas does. We’ll let the work do the talking.
We’ll let the line drives speak. We’ll let the difficult catches speak. We’ll let the strikeouts, the hustle, the smart baserunning and the scoreboard speak.
Because real confidence doesn’t have to announce itself.
This team has talent. A lot of it. And now we’re learning the part that separates good teams from championship teams... how to reset after mistakes, how to control emotion, how to pick each other up and how to stay locked in when the game gets uncomfortable.
So yes, we’re proud of these finalist rings.
But we are not satisfied with them.
We’ll put them on the display rack, learn from them, and get back to work.
Next time..... we want the other one. 🏆
