🚨 ODAC MEN EARN NATIONAL RUNNER-UP HONORS! 🚨

That's not just a finish—it's a statement.

Against nearly 150 teams from across the country, the ODAC Men's Team rose to the challenge at the 2026 TYR Futures Championships in Greensboro, NC, finishing as the Men's High Point Runner-Up with an incredible 227 team points.

This wasn't the result of one great swim. It was built through four days of relentless racing, teammates pushing one another, podium finishes, relay performances, record-breaking swims, and athletes stepping up when it mattered most.

The record-breaking performances kept coming at the TYR Futures Championships!

Karter Wachs rewrote the ODAC record books once again, breaking the Men's Open 800 Meter Freestyle Long Course Team Record with a phenomenal 8:23.30!

The previous record of 8:26.24 was set by Blake Johnson at the 2021 Speedo Summer Championships—in the very same pool in Greensboro.

It's a fitting full-circle moment. Five years after Blake established the standard on this pool deck, Karter returned to Greensboro and lowered it even further, adding another chapter to ODAC's history.

Congratulations, Karter, on another incredible achievement! Your dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence continue to raise the bar for everyone who wears an ODAC cap.

ODAC went out with a bang! 💙💛

The final day of the TYR Futures Championships was one to remember. Our swimmers capped off an incredible week with 10 individual swims, 5 individual championship finalists, and our Men's 400 Medley Relay racing under the lights.

The result? Five more trips to the podium!

As impressive as tonight was, there was even more to celebrate throughout the day. ODAC swimmers achieved new championship-level qualifying standards, including a first-time U.S. Open qualifier and a first-time USA Swimming National Championships qualifier, and another ODAC team record fell. 🚨 TEAM RECORD ALERT! 🚨

Another piece of ODAC history was written at the TYR Futures Championships!

🏅 Maggie Wright broke the ODAC Women's Open 50 Meter Backstroke Long Course Team Record, clocking an impressive 30.94 to become the fastest female 50-meter backstroker!

Because the 50-meter stroke events have only become common additions to championship meets in recent years, this is one of the newer categories in the ODAC record book. To verify the record, we dug back through the USA Swimming SWIMS database, which preserves ODAC performances dating back to 1993.

The previous record of 31.03 was set on August 9, 2014, at the NCSA Junior National Championships by Mary Bernadette Escobar—better known today as Coach Boo Boo, one of ODAC's outstanding Senior 2 coaches.

There's something incredibly special about this record. A swimmer who once wore the ODAC cap and set the standard is now coaching the next generation, and Maggie has carried that legacy forward by becoming the first ODAC woman to break the 31-second barrier in the event.

Congratulations, Maggie, on an incredible swim and a well-deserved place in the ODAC record books! And congratulations to Coach Boo Boo on inspiring another generation of record breakers.

History continued to be made tonight all the way down to the last heat of Day 2 at the TYR Futures Championships!

The ODAC Men's 800 Meter Freestyle Relay shattered the club's Open Long Course Team Record, stopping the clock in an incredible 7:44.36! The record-breaking relay was comprised of:

🏊 Nicky Stratton
🏊 Nick Dees
🏊 Karter Wachs

Swimming in that order, the quartet not only captured the TYR Futures Championship title, but also eclipsed the previous team record of 7:46.26, set in 2022 by Ben Mauldin, Blake Johnson, Jay Gerloff, and Tyler Kaminski—also at the TYR Futures Championships.

There's something special about one generation of ODAC swimmers inspiring the next. Four years after an outstanding relay set the standard, another group rose to the occasion on the very same stage to write the next chapter in ODAC history.
