Race #5 Recap • Missed Opportunity

After the strong performance in Race #4, we unloaded looking to build on that momentum. I made a few minor setup changes during the layoff, hoping to improve the handling even more.

Practice 1 & 2 • Mostly a shakedown. I didn’t push the car too hard, but enough to gather tire data and see how the changes were affecting it. The car felt a little better, so we made a few more adjustments for Practice 2 and improved again.

Qualifying • Made another small adjustment and got four clean laps, getting progressively faster each time. I caught a couple slower cars and decided to pull in rather than risk the car, settling for P2.

Heat Race • Started outside Row 3 and worked my way through the field to pick up the Heat Race win.

Main Event • Starting outside Row 2, the Heat Race win put me in a good position. After a couple laps, I was able to take the lead with the hard-charging #24 right behind me.

Around halfway through the 30-lap feature, we caught lap traffic. As a general rule, a lapped car should either move up and allow the leaders to pass or simply hold their line and let the leaders race around them. Unfortunately, neither happened.

I went to make the pass on the outside when the lapped car changed lanes, nearly wrecking both of us and allowing the #24 to cleanly pass us both and take the lead. Then, when I backed off to avoid further contact and made the pass on the inside, he came down again and made contact with my right front.

I was able to clear him and go after the #24. I got back to him and nearly had a pass on the inside, but it would have resulted in a decent amount of contact and that’s not how I want to win a race.

A couple more attempts, but I simply ran out of laps.

Another P2 finish.

Proud of the speed and the effort from the team, but this one definitely feels like a missed opportunity. We had a car capable of winning, led the race, and came up just short.

We’ll do it all again, Championship Night, September 26th!

Race Recap 🏁

Race #4 of this rollercoaster we call the 2026 Super 4 season is officially in the books.

We fixed the issues from the last race and decided to try a couple setup changes to see if we could find some extra speed. After the first practice…yeah, that experiment didn’t last long. We changed everything back, and the car immediately felt happier in the second practice. Sometimes the best adjustment is admitting the first adjustment wasn’t it.

Qualifying: Laid down a pretty sporty lap and grabbed Fast Time. Always a good way to kick off the night.

Heat Race: The reward for qualifying first? Starting dead last. 🤷‍♂️ I figured the inside lane was going to be the place to be, but the outside got the better launch. Luckily, I snuck up there before everyone else did and worked my way through the field to finish P2.

Main Event: Started on the outside of row two, but quickly slipped back to fourth after having a little “character-building moment” in the opening laps. Turns out the tires wanted another lap or two to wake up.

Had an awesome battle with the #17 before finally squeezing by with a three-wide pass down the backstretch that was equal parts fun and questionable life choice. 😅

That left me P3, chasing the #24. After a few failed attempts—inside, outside, rinse and repeat—I finally got one last great run off the corner, pulled alongside on the inside, and beat him to the checkered by just enough to bring home 2nd place.

At the end of every race night, I go through the checklist:

✅ Competitive
✅ Had fun
✅ Loaded the car in one piece

I’d call that a successful night.

We’ll do it all again on August 29th!
