With a tough hard fought loss in the PCC Semi Finals to Hebron 5-3 on Friday Night, the MS Cherokees ended their season.

We are incredibly proud of this young group, as they showed a great deal of resilience, starting their season off with 5 straight losses, but bouncing back to reel off 9 wins in their last 12 games to finish strong! They improved every single game and we are proud of their performance!

Over the year, the MS Cherokees deployed 17 different pitchers and all players played multiple positions! We would like to thank Coach Adams and staff for an excellent job, and also thank all the parents for a great year!

Congrats to our 8th graders on a successful MS baseball career, we look forward to seeing you compete at the HS level! Keep grinding!

A huge congratulations to SR C Cal Lemmons on his commitment to Murray State University!!

We could not be more happy for Cal and his family, and cannot wait to see what he can do in his senior year and beyond!!! Cal is the 5th Cherokee to commit to play at the next level since 2024 and the 3rd in MT baseball history to commit to the Division 1 level! He is also the 2nd commit in the class of 2027!

Cal has been a 3 year starter for the Cherokees, starting every game since his freshman year either behind the plate or in the infield. Cal was named All State as a Sophomore and Junior by Prep Baseball Indiana and All State Honorable Mention by the IHSBCA as a JR. He has also been PCC All Conference the last 2 years and 2nd Team All-Area for the Post Tribune and NWI Times.

In his career so far, Cal has collected 99 hits, 82 RBIs, and 49 XBH including 28 doubles, 14 triples, and 7 home runs. Cal is in the drivers seat to break some all time records in his Senior Year this spring and has earned it with a ton of hard work and dedication! He carries himself with a quiet confidence and puts in the work every single day, and we are glad to have him as a part of our program!

We believe this is a great program and excellent fit for Cal, we cannot wait to see him compete down there and make a mark on their program!!! He will do great things!

MS CHEROKEES WIN!

With a complete team effort on a hot evening in Porter Township, the Cherokees pull out a strong 11-4 win in the PCC Quarterfinals vs the Boone Grove MS Wolves!

This clinches them a spot in the final 4 vs the Hebron MS Hawks at the Hawks Nest tomorrow at 5 PM! The winner of Hebron/Morgan will then take on the winner of South Central/Westville on Tuesday in the PCC Championship! We had 11 hs players come out to Boone on the road to support them as well! Incredible to see them supporting the future!

‘31 Austin Schoff took the W on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings of no hit ball with 2 Ks. ‘31 Logan Hardesty came in to slam the door with 2.2 IP of 1 run ball, striking out 1 and walking 1. The Cherokees played strong defense all game, with a highlight being a diving catch from 6th grader Owen Langbehn to save extra bases in the 5th!

We have been offered and accepted a spot to play in the 2027 Region Invite hosted by Lake Central, Crown Point, and Munster on May 14th and 15th, 2027!

MS Cherokees Win!!

Another one! 5 Ws in 5 days this week and 6 straight for the boys! It was a team effort today as they won 10-0 in 4 innings, finishing up in 1 hour 10 minutes!!

‘32 Derrick Metzger got the W on the mound, throwing 3 1 hit innings with 2 Ks! ‘31 Logan Hardesty closed it out and preserved the mercy rule in the 4th!

‘31 Shane Cruise, ‘31 Eli Hayden, and ‘32 Liam Melton all went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Schoff, Hardesty, Metzger, Egolf, Langbehn, and Pozil added hits!

Next up will be the final regular season bout vs the Victory Christian Academy Lions tomorrow at Morgan!

Another W! That’s 4 in 4 days for the MS Cherokees! Staying hot after last night’s Win, the Cherokees hit the road to Boone Grove and took down the MS Wolves 16-3 in another total team effort. They have won 5 straight and 7 of 8.

‘32 Liam Melton got the W on the mound, throwing 3 strong innings with only 1 hit and 3 Ks. ‘32 Noah Phillips closed it out in the 4th with an 11 pitch frame!

Offensively, ‘32 Austin Schoff and ‘31 Easton Egolf led the way with 2 hits and 2 RBIs a piece. ‘33 Deacon Kandel and ‘33 Owen Langbehn each drove in 3 runs, and Eli Hayden, Derrick Metzger, and Noah Phillips also added hits!

Cherokees will look to continue the momentum with a PCC matchup with Westville at Curtis G Casbon Field tomorrow at 5 PM! ‘32 Derrick Metzger will start on the bump!
