Each year IEA offers assistance to our members through programs funded through the IEA Benevolent Fund. The Financial Assistance Program offers aid to incoming rider members who require help financing their IEA competition.

👋 Hi, I'm Samantha, owner and coach at SPW Equestrians!

With so many new faces joining us, I thought it was a great time to reintroduce myself.

My journey in the horse industry began through 4-H and FFA, experiences that helped shape my love for horses, leadership, and youth involvement in agriculture. Those opportunities ultimately led me to Black Hawk College East Campus, where I studied Equestrian Science and Equine Science and competed on both the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Western and English teams. Through 4-H, FFA, and collegiate equestrian competition, I developed not only as a rider, but also as a leader and educator. Those experiences introduced me to many of the opportunities available within the horse industry and continue to influence the way I teach today.

After graduation, I moved to California, where I worked for all-around trainers and gained valuable experience with horses and riders across multiple disciplines. That experience allowed me to travel across the country, attending horse shows in places like Scottsdale, Las Vegas, and Hollywood while learning from some of the industry's top professionals. In 2022, I relocated to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area with my husband Grant.

After four years of service in the Marines, Grant is building an ammunition manufacturing company and continuing his education in welding. I have since been teaching both Western and English riding lessons while continuing to expand my knowledge of the horse industry. We both love hiking, gardening and traveling with our two pups Apple and Perris.

In addition to teaching, I have had the opportunity to serve as a scribe at several major industry events, including the American Quarter Horse Association World Show, the National Snaffle Bit Association World Championship Show, Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association events, Oklahoma Buckskin Horse Association events, and the National Reining Breeders Classic.

My goal as an instructor is simple: provide quality instruction in an environment where riders are challenged to grow, build confidence, and develop a deeper understanding of horses.

I am especially passionate about introducing young riders to the horse industry and helping them discover the many opportunities it offers—whether that's showing, judging, coaching, training, collegiate equestrian programs, industry careers, or simply a lifelong love of horses.

Whether a rider's goals involve competition or simply becoming a better horseman, I believe every student deserves individualized attention, quality instruction, and opportunities to succeed.

As we enter our 3rd season of IEA and I continue to grow SPW Equestrians, I am also pursuing opportunities to further my education and continue down the collegiate coaching path. Helping riders develop their skills and preparing them for future opportunities in the horse industry is what continues to drive me every day.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their riding journey and helped make SPW Equestrians what it is today. I'm excited for what the future holds and look forward to helping even more riders reach their goals.
