Howdy folks, Stephen here. I wanted to pop in and say thanks for all the incredible support y'all have shown me and the shop these last couple weeks since my wreck. I've loved hearing your own stories of injuries and recoveries and am so grateful for the kindness you've lent me - we'll repay you very soon.

That being said, we're managing at the shop but are feeling a little stretched. We're not dead set on hiring the next person through the door BUT if you've ever considered bike shop life and feel like you'd be a good fit, we'd like to chat. If we don't find the right fit we'll get through the next few months ok, but we figured we'd put some feelers out there to see if this is the right time to grow our little friendly neighborhood co-op. Stop by the shop or send us an email @ [email protected]

Due to a major staff injury our remaining maintenance classes are cancelled! We’ll be rescheduling for the Fall, but will reach out about refunds as well. Hope to see you soon as Stephen Place heals up for the next one!

Welp, it happens to the best of us. Wednesday morning Stephen was out on the trails going downhill and hit that slick spot that breaks both major arm bones and splits a helmet in half. Give us a little grace at the shop as Stephen starts the healing process and we’re down a mechanic and personality at the storefront. He’s already talking about being at the shop in a few days, but sometimes you just have to take it, but take it easy.

It’s been said before, but we’re a worker owned co-op building for community enfranchisement and livable wages for our community and small staff. If you’d like to help us keep doing what we’re doing through this please keep rooting for us and if you have the means donate a bike for someone who needs it, or send support for the Roll it Forward program on our site!

Thanks for all the support so far! We’ll be back on it in due time. We’re Second Wind Bicycles(and Arm Bones too)!!

Arianna here! I co-founded Second Wind Bicycles because I believe our built environment here in Tulsa is the manifestation of dissociated parts of ourselves and our collective. Our infrastructure was built to optimize efficiency and facilitate accumulation of power, just as parts of us have been conditioned to enact scarcity narratives that get us there fast, but not together.

Bicycling requires us to grapple with paradox. Riding is risky. It can also connect us to community, our innate power, and our bodies, and help us truly see things and people we miss when we just drive through. Riding a bike is a practice in vulnerability, embodiment, and presence.

As a therapist, I help people witness their internal built environments- ways they have learned to brace and survive- and to imagine new ways of being rooted in abundance and freedom.

If you or someone you know is looking for what I have to offer, let's connect!

Stephen's lil boy Julian spent a day this week building up his own bike! Swapped parts from his now-too-small Specialized and did all the work himself. If you're wondering what to get your dad for Father's Day or just want to be able to do this yourself, sign up for one of the upcoming maintenance classes! Next one is Tuesday 6/23 from 5:30-8:30
