Redefining Ability
•How We Started•
Inspired by Matthew Sanford and his work with yoga, despite having a spinal c
ord injury, Jessica Stebbins wanted to create an opportunity for others to take adaptive yoga classes here at The University of Arizona. Her plan was to work on a program plan that would eventually bring this service to the U of A community through the Rec Center. After attending a yoga class, group members from a project she was working with learned of her dream. They felt the need to continue on her work and complete it, as Jessica would have done. Today, a club has been created, Yoga For Disabilities, and members have undergone training to begin what she was hoping to start Spring 2013 at the Rec Center.
