8/30/26 Season Championship

🏆 2026 Poplar Grove Speedway Clone Heavy Track Champion
🥈 Championship Feature - Finished 2nd

I had high hopes after running hot laps, but the track changed throughout the day and unfortunately I just missed on tires for the feature. Congrats to Craig on the win! Also, I was happy to have my brother Matt make a surprise appearance and help out.

This weekend wrapped up our 2026 season at Poplar Grove. We had some stressful times, some new experiences, a lot of rain-outs, but most importantly a lot of good times. I have to give a special thank you to my Dad & Jennie for planning their weekends around my race schedule, helping get the kart ready, and learning how to wash tires. 😄

I'm truly grateful to everyone that helped make this season possible.

Clone Heavy:
Heat 1 - 4th / Heat 2 - DNS / Feature - 3rd
Clone Heavy Warm Up:
Heat 1 - 6th / Heat 2 - 6th / Feature - 4th
Pro Clone Heavy National:
Qualifying - 6th / Feature - DNF

This was our first time going to a bigger special event race and it was definitely a learning experience. Started off ok with some good lap times and felt like the kart was handling well. Mid-day I started feeling a little over-heated and overwhelmed so we scratched a heat race to regroup. We went back out, but with back to back races I struggled to keep up with tires. Lost traction and spun in the warm up, took a hard hit but ended up finishing. Went out for the pro feature but pulled off early. Going to check everything over this week and planning to run the next regular race Aug 1st.

Sunday 7/12 🏁

Heat 1: P1 ➡️ P1
Heat 2: P2 ➡️ P2
Feature: P1 ➡️ P2

Started off strong picking up our first heat win! Had a good start from the pole for the feature but ended up 2nd.
Very thankful to have some extra help/coaching in the pits. I learned a lot and ended up taking .5 sec off my lap time from the 2nd heat to the feature. I still have plenty of things to work on but I think we made some progress.

P.S. We decided to run Clone Nationals but that will be a separate post :)

Hoping everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!

Last weekend we had another rain out. Next on the schedule is July 12th at Poplar Grove.

Heat 2: P1 ➡️ P2
Feature: P3 ➡️ P3
Even though we didn't get a win, we tried a few changes and showed some improvement from the last race. Had a good start/restart (something I'm working on) and even led a few heat laps. Was keeping up ok in the feature but hit a rut, as I tend to do 😅, and lost a lot of speed the last few laps. We'll keep at it and try again next Sunday.

At Poplar Grove Speedway today. Waiting on weather delay but the sun is starting to come back out!
