As Old Glory waves proudly across our communities, may we never take for granted the liberties that unite us as Americans.

Whether you’re gathering for a backyard barbecue, watching fireworks, or spending time with family and friends, we encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly.

A few simple reminders can help keep the holiday safe:
🇺🇸 Attend professional fireworks displays whenever possible.
🚒 Keep water or a hose nearby if using legal consumer fireworks.
🎇 Never allow children to handle fireworks unsupervised.
🚗 If alcohol is part of your celebration, make a plan for a sober ride home.

Sixty years ago today, Tony Cloninger became the first pitcher to hit two grand slams in one game.

Oh, and he tossed a complete game for the Atlanta Braves that same night.

He did it with a Denis Menke model bat, which is part of the Hall of Fame’s collection.
