Marcellus boys lacrosse wins 4th consecutive Class D title, denies Lowville history The Mustangs' 13 seniors won a sectional title in every year of their high school careers.

Kathy Powell has been to more Marcellus games than she can count.

The matriarch of the Powell family first sat in the stands when her four children played for the Mustangs a generation ago. Her four children gave her 13 grandchildren, and she’s been a steady supporter at those games, too.

But there will be a lull before the next generation of Powells rips through the records this one set. Kathy’s final two grandchildren, Cece Powell and Nick Rayfield — who she calls “12 and 13” — are set to graduate from Marcellus this spring and begin college lacrosse careers.

This week, cousins Nick and Cece -- who grew up on the same street -- will try to help their Marcellus teams take home sectional lacrosse championships. Both are three-time first-team All-CNY selections and nationally-ranked prospects. Cece will play lacrosse at North Carolina next season. Nick will play at Syracuse.
