CNY United

Our final match today was against the Minnesota Northern Lights for 7th place in the Premier championship division. True to form we had a scoreless game all the way into overtime for the second time in tournament play. Finally with a brilliant shot from Peyton Sefick we secured the golden goal for an epic overtime win.

What a great week of soccer! For CNY United's first trip back to the Premier Division we showed well finishing in the middle of the conference standings. Great play by all, and thanks to Jen Smith and Nico for cheering us on from afar - we missed you both!

A massive thank you to all of the parents, families, fiances, friends, and countless other folks behind the scenes that make this team possible. Head coach Tom Cunningham will refuse to take credit, but he is a cornerstone for this team and we're so grateful for all that you do!

That's a wrap for this season, we can't wait to dig into next season in the fall!

Two games today:

Shockwave 3 - CNY 0. That result ties the DASA Cyclones as the lowest goal differential of the tournament against Shockwave, whom are always a favorite to win the championship, and have done so many years running. We don't hate that result.

Auburn 1 - CNY 0. Better results that our championship game last year against Auburn in the final, but we still owe them one!

Tomorrow we play the Northern Lights for 7th place. They tied us in pool play, andwe'd like to take a win against them!

Game 4: LA Galaxy: 0 - CNY UNITED: 1

40 minutes scoreless, but in the first 40 seconds of sudden death overtime we found our flow and all of our offense players had a piece of that critical, game winning goal. Not only does this secure our bid to the quarter finals, but it also locks us into the Premier league for a second consecutive year.

CNY United had a 3 day mini camp Thursday thru Saturday this week. The team continues to build towards Nationals in June but we also took a minute to remember and tell some stories about Patrick Marshfield who was celebrating a birthday on Friday. We were not with him but he was with us. Happy Birthday Patrick.

CNY United attended the LeClaire Invitation Power Soccer Tournament this weekend in Boston. Although during Saturday scrimmages and referee trainings the Boston Breakers were able to hold us to a tie and a loss, we would not be denied during Sunday's tournament and were able to secure wins in all four matches, bringing home some shiny hardware.

Great effort from all the competitors, coaches, spouses, families, personal assistants, referees, volunteers, and a HUGE thank you to our hosts the Boston Breakers. Great tournament!
