The player earned the commitment. The college made the decision. But good coaches helped prepare her, advocate for her, and create opportunities along the way. Giving those people recognition isn’t giving away your accomplishment it’s showing gratitude for the people who helped you reach it. Coaches , Parents , Teammates all play a role in a players success

Somewhere along the way, college recruiting started entering the conversation at 12U-14U
Sometimes I believe the parents have bigger dreams than the kids do.
At 11 or 12 or 13 years old, even maybe 14 a player shouldn’t feel like every team choice, tournament, workout or social-media post is part of a college recruiting résumé. At that age, shouldn’t we be talking more about learning the game, developing fundamentals, competing, making friends and discovering whether they truly love softball?
Instead, parents are often made to feel that if their daughter isn’t playing travel ball early, attending certain tournaments, getting lessons and starting the recruiting process, she’s already falling behind.
Rec ball is where young players can learn to throw, catch, hit, run the bases and understand the game.
It’s where they learn to be teammates. Where they learn how to win and lose. Where they learn responsibility, sportsmanship and how to take instruction.
Most importantly, it’s where a kid gets to figure out
If they love playing this game.
There will be plenty of time for showcases, recruiting, college camps and conversations about playing at the next level.
Let kids become softball players before we start asking them to become college prospects.

These are stats numbers put up by a recent 2028 SEC commit during her 2026 season
14 GP | 34 PA | 30 AB | 13 H | .433 AVG | .471 OBP | .800 SLG | 1.271 OPS | 4 2B | 2 3B | 1 HR | 17 RBI | 8 R
That’s substantial offensive production to go with her physical projection got her to a D1 Offer and commitment Development builds the player. Production validates the development!
Measurables can get a college coach’s attention, but eventually those tools have to translate against Top Quality competition.

Bat speed matters, especially for power potential, but it does not tell you whether a hitter can square up quality pitching.
That’s why I tell players: challenge yourself don’t search for an easier environment just to produce better numbers.

Up your Game! Up your Training !! High school recruits you are no longer competing against other high school recruits when looking to play Top Collegiate Softball . You are now competing against proven college players and JUCO All-Americans for roster spots who are moving around through transfer portal .

Development happens when athletes are challenged not when the game becomes more comfortable. The goal is to become a better player at the level that challenges you.

Your swing doesn’t have to slow down because the pitching slows down. Your timing has to adjust. Hitting is timing, and the stride/front-foot timing is a huge part of it. The hitter has to get that front foot down early enough to be ready to hit, while keeping the hands and weight back. Against faster pitching, the hitter learns that the decision window is shorter, so the move has to start earlier and be more efficient.
Then put that same hitter against noticeably slower pitching and she can struggle because her body is still calibrated to the faster speed.
She may:
get the front foot down too early and leak forward,
commit the hands too soon,
get out in front and roll over,
or try to artificially “wait,” which disrupts her normal sequence. Development comes from being challenged not simply from being successful. Sometimes competing against better pitching forces a hitter to stay sharp, make faster decisions and develop better timing.
The key isn’t teaching a completely different swing for slower pitching. It’s teaching adjustable timing with the same swing: start the move, get the foot down, stay loaded, then let the ball travel.

I see so many talented 2027 and 2028 athletes WORKING HARD .
Training. Getting stronger. Taking lessons. Playing games. Posting workout videos on Twitter (X) Posting highlights. Attending camps.
That effort matters. Keep doing it.
But here’s something I believe we need to help athletes understand …
Working hard and being visible are only parts of the recruiting process.
The next question should be
Is your hard work creating actual recruiting opportunities?
Are college coaches communicating with you?
More importantly are you targeting schools that match your ability, academics and position need?
Are those schools looking for your position?
Are you getting honest feedback about where your game currently projects?
Are you building relationships with coaches ,not simply hoping they see a post?
Sometimes the answer isn’t work harder.
Sometimes it’s change the strategy.
Find the right level.
Target the right schools.
Get evaluated honestly.
Communicate consistently.
Play where the right coaches can evaluate you.
The goal is to find a college where your talent fits, your academics fit, as well as athletic fit .
Parents Support the dream, but also help your daughter find the right path. Ask questions, listen to honest evaluations, keep an open mind about every level of college softball that matches academics and The goal is finding a place where she will be happy, develop, earn her education and have an opportunity to play!!
Keep working.
Just make sure your recruiting plan is working just as hard as you are.

Before players begin chasing exposure develop something worth exposing.
Talent may get someone’s attention. Fundamentals, competitiveness, coachability, softball IQ, and consistency are what keep their attention.
