The Story: The deadly shooting took place at a home at 315 White Star Circle in Billings’ West End shortly after 6 p.m. Police received a 911 call reporting gunfire, with authorities saying gunshots could be heard in the background of the emergency call. Officers responding to the residence encountered additional gunfire coming from the area of the home.
Law enforcement noted the preliminary inquiry indicates the incident began as a family disturbance and was not a random act of violence involving strangers. Family members reportedly stated Smith was related to the victims and had been living at the residence with his parents. Relatives also said he had recently been asked to move out, although authorities have not publicly verified that dispute as the motive.
The victims reportedly included members of a blended loved ones spanning multiple generations. Among those identified by relatives were Smith’s grandmother, 92-year-old Evelyn Smith, who was reportedly wheelchair-bound; his parents, Dana Smith and Barbara Smith; and his younger sister, Megan Ghekiere.
Megan Ghekiere’s children were also among those reportedly killed. They included her stepchildren, Landon Ghekiere, 15, and Charlotte Ghekiere, 12, as well as her biological children, Owen Ireland, 13, and Chloe Ireland, 7. The deaths represented the loss of four children and several adults across generations of the same family. (Per Trendy News)

The Story: Police say Johnathan Hamby, 54, got into an argument with another man and stabbed him in the neck on the Beltline at Ponce de Leon Avenue, according to the warrant, which has the spelling of his name as Jonathan. The man, identified in the warrant as Ramon Harris, died at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Hamby had a history of at least 30 prior arrests, Dickens said.

See, I’m smart enough to know you’ve been played and I try to extend grace but sometimes gentle education is the answer. If WE can’t look at evil and just it’s wrong without some comforting “qualifier” that confirms our bias; we will never be united.
Personally accountability needs to increase for sure. We also need to realize that the concept of “WE THE PEOPLE” will constantly be a joke because we can’t even be decent to each other.

St. Louis County Police Department stated that the officer-involved shooting on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in the 11000 block of Bellefontaine Road occurred after an officer perceived a threat from a vehicle while police were responding to and dispersing a large juvenile gathering near Bellefontaine and Larimore roads, where fireworks had reportedly been discharged near police vehicles. The officer fired at the vehicle, striking two juveniles; a third juvenile was injured by shattered glass.
