Dolly Parton was a great lover of literacy for all!
She believed in supported literacy so much that she provided books for children from birth to Kindergartenโat no charge to their parents who signed up for her program. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is another testament to Ms. Partonโs love of reading, too!
Thank you, Dolly!

Thanks to Teacher's off Duty-Podcast for this very poignant post!
This speaks to something teachers have been saying for years: the problem isnโt always a lack of training. Sometimes, itโs a lack of time.
Most teachers already spend countless hours learning, adapting, planning, and improving their practice. The bigger question is: How much of their day is actually spent teaching?
Teachers are expected to manage behavior, complete paperwork, attend meetings, collect data, handle administrative tasks, communicate with parents, meet testing requirements, and take on responsibilities that seem to grow every year.
Professional development matters. Teachers should keep learning as education evolves. But not every challenge can be solved with another workshop or training session.
Sometimes, the best way to improve teaching is to remove what gets in the way.
- Less paperwork.
- Fewer unnecessary distractions.
- Clearer expectations.
- More classroom support.
- More trust.
- More time to teach.
Great teachers donโt need to be micromanaged into excellence. They need the time, freedom, and support to use the expertise they already have.
Trust teachers. Just let them teach.

Misunderstanding can be painfulโespecially when the very thing that helps you cope is seen as โweird.โ
Dr. Temple Grandinโs experience with her squeeze machine is a powerful reminder of how far our understanding of autism and sensory needs has come. What was once misunderstood is now recognized as an important part of how some autistic people regulate and feel safe.
