I strive to focus on teaching people about self care and proper exercise

07/23/2026

I started reading Everything Is Fcked* by Mark Manson today, and one idea from the first chapter really stood out:
We often focus so much on the end goal that we overlook the small wins happening every day.

I’ve heard clients say, “Why keep going? I’m not seeing results.” But they are making progress—more energy, better-fitting clothes, and getting stronger. Those small improvements are what eventually create big transformations.

The same applies to dating and life. It’s easy to focus on what’s missing in someone else, but real fulfillment starts by building a life you enjoy on your own. Then the right person doesn’t complete your life—they simply add to it.

Don’t ignore the small wins. They’re usually the reason the big ones happen.

One of the best pieces of advice I give my personal training clients is this: build one habit at a time.
You’ve probably heard it takes about 21 days of consistency for a habit to start feeling like part of your routine.
Recently, one of my clients told me they were going to make a checkmark for all 21 days to stay on track.
I told them, “Don’t worry about all 21 days. Just win today.”
When you focus too much on the end goal, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But when you stay present and complete today’s task, tomorrow becomes much easier.
Big results come from small, consistent actions.
Focus on today. Then do it again tomorrow. 💪

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is jumping straight into group fitness classes.
Classes are fun, motivating, and keep you accountable—but if your body isn’t moving well yet, it’s easy to compensate with poor form and increase your risk of injury.
Build your foundation first.
Spend some time working one-on-one with a coach to learn proper movement, improve your confidence, and move more efficiently.
Then when you join a class, you’ll get more out of every workout—and do it safely.

What coaching style brings out the best in you?
Some people need a coach who pushes them hard, challenges them, and tells them what they need to hear.
Others respond better to a softer approach—someone who meets them where they are, explains the process, and builds them up gradually.
Both styles can be effective.
The key is understanding what helps YOU grow.
Do you need a hard push or a softer touch?

One of the biggest mistakes people make when starting—or getting back into—exercise is assuming:
“If it worked for me before, it’ll work for me now.”
But your body changes. Your needs change. And sometimes, your approach needs to change too.
Being coachable means being willing to learn, adapt, and build a strong foundation.
Don’t rush the process. Learn how to move well, build confidence, and create a foundation for long-term success.
Sometimes progress starts with letting go of what worked in the past and being open to what you need now. 💪

One of the most valuable lessons I hope to teach my clients is this:
How you talk to yourself matters.
Too often, people start their fitness journey by saying:
“I’m fat.”
“I’m lazy.”
“I’m unmotivated.”
“I can’t do this.”
But the story you tell yourself shapes the way you see yourself.
So change the story.
Instead of saying, “I can’t do this,” try saying:
“I’m doing my best, and I’m willing to learn.”
Growth isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it requires digging deep and unlearning the way you’ve spoken to yourself for years.
But when you change the way you speak to yourself, you change the way you grow.
Do your best. Be willing to learn. Keep showing up. 💪

One of the greatest lessons I learned this week came while I was training a client: we are perfectly imperfect.
Too often, we strive for perfection, but perfection usually leaves us feeling disappointed. The truth is, growth doesn’t happen because everything goes according to plan—it happens because we keep showing up, even when it doesn’t.
When you’re a beginner in the gym, not everything is going to go the way you expect. That’s just reality. You’ll make mistakes. You’ll have days when you feel frustrated or discouraged. But if you constantly beat yourself up over every setback, you’ll only end up holding yourself back.
Everything changes the moment you embrace your mistakes instead of fearing them. Failure isn’t the opposite of success—it’s part of the process. Every missed rep, every challenge, and every obstacle is an opportunity to learn, grow, and become stronger.
Keep putting your best foot forward. Stay consistent. Trust the process. Give yourself grace.
Remember, progress isn’t about being perfect—it’s about becoming a little better every single day.
