Surf ski class today introducing folks from the Midwest to paddling Puget Sound. We surfed waves, paddled to West Point, saw harbor seals, the Locks and Shilshole Bay. Incredible weather as well.

Took the ski out Sunday and dropped a pot west of Port Angeles for a few hours. This is a tricky spot due to the beach break which can be substantial and we generally don’t get much. But we don’t need much so 1-3 keepers are good enough. Usually I paddle and surf after dropping it then check it on my return. This time was a bust with two small ones but good practice (untangling rope offshore) for many more attempts this summer. CARBONOLOGY SPORT

We had a bigger clean up day yesterday with three of us looking. And big tides always bring in more debris. A few items from Canada, a Pepsi can with Chinese lettering and all the usual suspects.

4th of July beach walk and cleanup west of Port Angeles. First one was a find! Also found some items for decor at the Seattle Conservation on that Front Lines event Tuesday July 7.

A whale of an evening just a bit ago on Puget Sound near Seattle. Maybe a gray? And a distant view of Pt Monroe.
