Day 1 progress on my Cashmere Crown -- gorgeous pattern by Denise Bayron! Knitting that first row after the cast-on was super fiddly, but now it's easy going.

Omg yay it's opening day here in the studio... first live-in-person clients today since spring of 2020. I decided to celebrate with flowers, and when I went to the lovely place around the corner, this was the color they had waiting for me… my absolute favorite turquoise blue! :-)
Call me to book a session and enjoy the new space!

Truth! We're all so busy not thinking about who -- and how -- we'll be in the future... I wish I had a way to fairy-dust this into everyone's subconscious.
I made you a thing! This is a still from my very first Pilates-5 Workout video. I'm so excited!!!
I have many clients on vacation this week, from to New York City to Black Rock City. They are off having big adventures, enjoying the bright lights and the desert dust. And even though I know they're having a fabulous time, I bet they are missing their daily dose of Pilates goodness.
So I made them—and YOU—a Thing!
Each of these upcoming videos will have just 5 Pilates-based exercises, chosen around a particular theme or skill. You can do them anywhere you have room to lie down. This first one is all about giving your body a terrific post-vacation stretch.
I hope you will check it out on YouTube (link in bio). Please give it a try, and let me know what you liked about it!

Wish I'd Known This Back Then... I used to think I was strong, and worse, I used to think I was flexible. I found this photo of me, and had to laugh at how splayed my ribs were, and how high my shoulders were, which were the result of my back being so tight. I had no idea it was even happening...we didn't worry about muscle tightness back then. We just wanted to "feel the burn."
But here's what I've learned: the tightest muscle always wins.
If you don't release the tight muscles first, then no amount of Pilates (or any other exercise) is going to get your body aligned, balanced, and out of pain.
That's why I spend the first part of every client session or group class working on releases, so the tight muscles can stand down and allow us to target your underworking muscles.
The moment I started doing this in my own work—release first, then strengthen—that's when the real changes began to happen in my body. If you're a Hypermobile Human, chances are you need the same technique...because the tightest muscle will always win.
