Back at sweltering Buttonwillow Raceway Park this weekend for the SCCA CalClub SM Double Regional. It's going to be hot this weekend but still a large field of SM pre-registered.
We'll be on run group 6 at the Circuit and Clement Lee will be running a red SM #10 this weekend.

A little cooler today for race 2 of 2 with SCCA Cal Club. Pole sitter was late to the starting grid and had to start from the back of the field.
Green flag was orderly as everyone made it through the first few turns unscathed. William Rasmussen took advantage of being on point and promptly began gapping the pack. P2, 3 and 4 were nose to tail but couldn't make any headway to reel in William.
The original post sitter, Tyler Vance, who had to start from the rear, taking advantage of his new tires, had caught up to and easily disposed of the front pack. And before you knew it, Tyler had caught up to William as well and made his way through to point relatively unchallenged.
At the same time, Evan Jacobs who also had to start from the rear of the field because he did not have a qualifying time, had caught up to and made his way to the point of the chase pack. But that was all he could do as both Tyler and William were way down the range already.
That was how the rest of the race mostly proceeded without any particular drama. The race finished more or less in that scenario with Tyler taking 1st William in 2nd and Evans in 3rd while Clement finished in the same position he started the race in 5th.
We'll be back at Buttonwillow Raceway Park again in May.

SCCA CalClub March race 1 of 2 is in the books. As expected, the race started under sweltering heat. The front six cars carefully filed their way through the first few corners and broke away from the rest of the pack. They were running nose to tail for quite a few laps before any battling began.
The top six were swapping positions but nothing really sticks. As the tires got more slick the drivers in front started making mistakes.
The front two had minor contact and went off and that promoted Clement from 5th to 3rd instantly. A few laps later, near the closing stages of the race, the lead car went a couple wheels off and P2 had to take slight evasive action. That was enough for Clement Lee to get into the lead which he held onto for 2 more laps to take the win in his first race in 2026 🙂
One more to go on Sunday.

Clement Lee is back racing this weekend with SCCA CalClub in the black SM #89. Weather is dry and hot. It will be a brutal race in that condition.

No racing for Clement Lee this weekend. Heading out early before the fog gets thicker in the evening
