It’s taken me some time to process what happened at Millennium Dancesport Championships last weekend.
Receiving this Lifetime Achievement Award was an incredibly humbling moment.

The more I reflected on this honor, the more I realized that I don’t see it as mine alone. I accept it on behalf of the entire Smooth community—the teachers, dancers, adjudicators, organizers, students, and visionaries who have believed in our style and worked tirelessly to elevate it around the world.

Every milestone we’ve reached has been because of a village. Together, we’ve created extraordinary momentum, opened new doors, and helped Smooth earn the recognition it deserves on the world stage. This award is a celebration of all of us.💓

Ironically, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award has only made me realize how much more I still want to accomplish. There is still so much work to do, so many opportunities to create, to serve, and to continue building the future of Smooth. I hope to spend the years ahead becoming even more deserving of this incredible honor.

My deepest gratitude goes to Michael Chapman for choosing to recognize me in this way. Michael has a remarkable gift for making dancers at every level feel seen, celebrated, and valued. His generosity of spirit strengthens our entire dance community, and I feel truly honored to have been in the spotlight for this special moment.

Thank you to everyone who has walked this journey with me—especially my husband Michael Mead, my beloved family,my colleagues (especially Jonathan Roberts and Wayne Eng), coaches (special shout out to Ray Rivers, Heather Smith and Ron Montez) the Global Smooth Team and every member of our Smooth family. This recognition belongs to all of us, and I look forward to continuing this journey together.

Here’s to the next chapter of the Smooth movement.
