Every family deserves to know exactly what they're walking into.
When someone tours a UNIFIED Technology Center, one of the biggest surprises is realizing our sessions are much more than gaming.
Each day is intentionally structured to create opportunities for growth, connection, and confidence.
Clients arrive and connect with their coaches before exploring exciting technology experiences. They recharge with movement and healthy habits, practice teamwork during structured gameplay, and finish every session celebrating accomplishments together.
This consistent routine helps create an environment where participants know what to expect, feel supported, and build meaningful relationships over time.
Our coaches are trained using therapist-informed practices, allowing them to meet clients where they are while encouraging communication, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and collaboration through technology.
At UNIFIED Esports League, our daily framework follows a simple progression:
๐ Connect
๐ป Explore
๐ Recharge
๐ฎ Grow
๐ Celebrate
Because when people feel like they belong, they're empowered to grow.
If you've ever wondered what makes our program different, this is where it begins.

Unified Esports League
Gaming and technology education for people from all walks of life.
๐โพ We think we've discovered baseball's newest expansion team...
**MLB the Tailgate.**
During one of our recent gaming sessions, a client made an incredible play in *MLB The Show*...
..and the game responded by launching their player completely out of the stadium and into the parking lot.
It was one of those wonderfully unexpected moments that had the entire room laughing.
But behind every funny moment is an opportunity to learn.
For some individuals with intellectual + developmental disabilities, unexpected events can sometimes feel confusing or upsetting. That's why our coaches are trained to slow the moment down, explain what happened, and reassure clients that nothing they did caused the glitch.
Instead of frustration, our group became curious.
Instead of embarrassment, everyone explored how video games are built, why glitches happen, and how technology isn't always perfect.
That kind of supportive coaching doesn't happen by accident. Every UNIFIED coach receives training informed by an expert therapist with more than 25 years of experience working with the IDD community, helping them turn everyday gaming moments into opportunities for confidence, emotional growth, and resilience.
Sometimes the biggest victories aren't on the scoreboard.
Sometimes they're hearing a room full of friends laughing together.
๐ We'd love to show you what makes our Technology Centers so special. Contact our Client Services team today to schedule a tour at a location serving San Diego + Imperial Counties.
What if the problem was never video games themselves โ but the lack of structure, support + intention around them? ๐ฎ๐
For many families, gaming can feel like a concern. Too much screen time. Too much sitting. Too much isolation.
But research from the American Psychological Association points to a more balanced truth: thoughtfully designed video games can support learning, emotional resilience, social connection, motivation + cooperation.
At UNIFIED Esports League, we see this every day across San Diego + Imperial Counties.
Our clients are not โjust playing games.โ They are practicing how to communicate, wait their turn, encourage teammates, manage frustration, recover from losses, celebrate wins + build friendships in a safe, coach-supported environment.
Video games become the tool.
Growth is the goal.
Connection is the outcome. โจ

๐ Coach Nathanโs UNIFIED story started with family.
Before he became a coach, Nathan was introduced to UNIFIED Esports League when his sister became a client at one of our UNIFIED Technology Centers. Through the program, he watched her build communication skills, grow in confidence + form meaningful relationships with others.
Seeing her progress inspired Nathan to become a coach himself.
Now, he helps create that same sense of belonging for other clients โ with patience, encouragement + an understanding that every individual has their own needs, strengths + goals.
At UESL, our IDD-trained coaching staff supports clients through structured gaming + technology-based programs designed to help them connect, participate + grow at their own pace.

๐ฎ โAre video games bad for kids?โ Maybe the better question is: how are they being used?
At UNIFIED Esports League, gaming is never โjust gaming.โ Our programs use video games as structured tools to support belonging, teamwork, sportsmanship, patience + confidence for individuals with intellectual + developmental disabilities.
CEO + Founder Matthew Iske says it best:
โ...But it's about our relationship to the thing and how we are using the thing to integrate into our lives. Is it a healthy relationship to this thing? โ technology and gaming in this case.โ
Through compassionate coaching, research-backed curriculum + customized growth-minded support, we help clients build a healthier relationship with technology while connecting with peers in a safe, offline, local-play environment.
