Mosquitoes are the ultimate uninvited houseguests... showing up without warning, overstaying their welcome, and leaving behind more than just itchy bites.

Keep these pests off your guest list by removing standing water, using insect repellent, and protecting your home with screens.

Shady vegetation, tall grass, and areas around your decks or patios can all provide mosquitoes relief from the heat.

A few minutes of checking around your property can help reduce mosquito-friendly areas around your home.

🦟 West Nile Virus has been detected again in San Marcos.
A mosquito trap sample collected Aug. 19 in the 78666 ZIP code has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV). This marks the eighth WNV-positive mosquito pool detected through Hays County’s surveillance program this season.
With WNV continuing to circulate in our area, residents can help reduce their risk by using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants when practical, and removing standing water around homes and businesses.
