Undefeated Filipino contender Charly Suarez had no trouble making weight, tipping the scales at 129 pounds during the official weigh-in.
Meanwhile, his veteran Mexican opponent Manuel Avila came in overweight at 131.2 pounds. He has been given two hours to cut down to the 130-pound super featherweight limit.
If Avila fails to make weight, the vacant WBO International Super Featherweight title will only be at stake for Suarez.
The fight takes place tomorrow in San Bernardino, California.

Undefeated Filipino prospect Criztian Pitt Laurente defeated Jing Aguan (7-4, 5ko’s) via 4th-round TKO. The victory improved his record to 16 wins, with 10 knockouts.
In the co-main event, David Santisima (6-1, 5ko’s) the brother of two-time former world title challenger Jeo Santisima, scored a 3rd-round technical knockout victory over Alven Vergara.
In the undercard Gabriel Tapales (10-2, 7ko’s) the younger brother of former unified world champion Marlon Tapales, made a quick work via a 2nd-round knockout win over Dexter Alimento. Undefeated Cebuano Kenneth Llover suffered his first pro defeat on Saturday, June 6, in Aichi Sky Expo, Aichi, Japan. He lost by split verdict to American Michael Angeletti in their IBF bantamweight title eliminator.
Llover knockdowned Angeletti in round 2, but couldn’t finish the American fighter and left the fight decision to the judges after 12 gruelling rounds.
The two judges had it with Angeletti: Japanese judge Saimi Okaniwa had it 115-112 and Karl Zappia scored it 116-111. The third judge Thai Cherdchai Srirat scored 115-112 for Llover.
The loss dropped Llover’s record to 17-1, with 12ko’s, while Angeletti stays unbeaten at 15-0, with 8 ko’s and now becomes the mandatory challenger for Mexican IBF world champ Jose Salas Reyes.

Former three-division world champion Filipino John Riel Casimero (36-5-1, 26 KOs) sent Mexican Luis Nery (37-3, 28 KOs), 127, six times to the canvass and finally chalked up a lopsided stoppage victory at 0:42 of the fourth round in a scheduled ten on Saturday in Tokoname, Japan. Casimero started quickly dropping the Nery three times in the opening round. Nery, who was three pounds over the contracted 124-pound, hit the canvas three more times–each once in the second through the fourth rounds before the referee had enough and gave Casimero the TKO win.

Undefeated Pinoy middleweight fighter Weljon Mindoro kept his clean slate after scoring a knockdown in Round 4 and runaway with a unanimous decision triumph over Mexico’s Elias Espadas in their 10-round bout in College Park Center, Arlington, Texas. The three judges scored it 98-91, 97-92, 96-93 all for Mindoro. Mindoro improved his ledger to 17-0-1 with 16 knockouts.
