Tango music has texture: velvet, grit, sweetness, tension.

It asks you to listen. To find the rhythm, linger in a pause, and let stillness become part of the dance. It asks you to stop and connect. To find yourself, find your partner, and create something meaningful and interesting together.

Each tango becomes something you make together: personal, expressive, and alive.

Zero to Tango begins September 21st.
Registration is open.
Space is limited.

Extended Ochos: Down & Out

This month we're taking our ochos further with grounding, extension, and spirals.

The main idea:

Down. Out. Pivot.

Soften and ground through the standing leg.
Extend outward rather than pulling the free foot in.
Then pivot.

Use a deep exhale or imagine a wave traveling from your head all the way to your toes to create that extension without extra effort.

Down. Out. Pivot.

This month we're exploring how a great tango step travels through the whole leg — hips, knees, ankles, and feet.

Our mantra:
Ground. Reach. Roll.

Ground through the hips.
Reach through the knees.
Roll through the feet.

More articulation. More movement. Better tango.

Tango isn't dancing alone... it is dancing with another human, sharing space, finding a common ground.

Molinete from Right & Left Turns

In this lesson we cover two easy entrances into the molinete.

Left Turn: Open the embrace and lead the follower into Forward → Side → Back → Side → Forward.
Right Turn: Begin with a rock step and tuck step, then continue Side → Back → Side → Forward.

Once you're comfortable with both entries, add the musical rhythm:

Slow – Slow – Quick Quick – Slow

The Slow, Slow allows the pivot and back step to develop naturally. The Quick Quick Slow releases that stored energy, creating a smooth, elastic feeling that matches the music.

Practice both entrances and experiment with the rhythm until it feels effortless.

A Good Hug

Thank you to all who came out last night. It was so wonderful to share tango magic with you.

Thank you to Emily for those Dark 'n' Stormy COOOOOOKIES, and thank you to everyone else who brought a little piece of yourselves: your joy, your worry, your tired bodies, your excitement, your nervousness, your experience.

Last night felt a lot like those cookies.

A little spice.
A little punch.
A little twist.

A little sweet.

One powerful flavor followed by another.

Mixing so wonderfully together to make such a special night.

OUR NEXT MILONGA is Sept 26th!
Mark you Calendars. :)

Transitioning Between Open & Close Embrace

This week we explored how to move smoothly between open and close embrace using positions that naturally appear throughout the dance.

The Front Ocho Position
The key moment is when the follower arrives in a front cross (front ocho) in front of the leader.

This position appears in many common figures, including:
Opening from the box step
The right turn
The media luna

Learning to recognize this position allows you to open and close the embrace naturally throughout the dance.

Opening and Closing the Embrace

As the follower pivots into the front ocho:

Wait for the pivot to complete.
Step around the follower.
Bring the embrace up and under.
Close the embrace as you continue dancing.

Avoid rushing the transition. Let the follower complete the turn before stepping around.

We are creating an APP that will help us learn tango together.
