Mile Madness Endurance Run

One of the greatest gifts of being a Race Director is meeting amazing, inspiring athletes and having the privilege of supporting their journey. Today we are thrilled to introduce our newest Mile Madness Race Ambassador — Bennett Patterson. 🏃💚

Bennett's story didn't start on a podium. It started at an elementary school jog-a-thon, where his PE teacher, Mrs. Heggli, saw something in him and took him to his first track-and-field event. The running bug bit — and it never let go.

Through middle school and high school, running was Bennett's constant. But the environment wasn't always easy. Facing bullying left him feeling disconnected and like he didn't truly belong. During his junior year, he made the tough decision to walk away from his school team — a choice that ultimately changed his life.

That's when he found Wild Runners.

In that community, he found his stride and his tribe. Feeling welcomed and loved by the running community allowed him to push himself to entirely new limits.

Now — as a 17-year-old high school senior training through the rugged hills of Fair Oaks and Auburn — Bennett is absolutely on fire:
🏅 829.3 training and race miles logged in 2026 alone
🏆 13 races competed in over the past year
🥉 Top 3 in his age group in every single one
💪 Top 10 overall in several races
🎯 Next goal: His first full marathon at the CIM this December

From 10Ks and half marathons to 30K and 35K distances — Bennett is always chasing the next challenge with the deep conviction that he has the tools, the strength, and the spirit to reach new heights.

We cannot wait to cheer Bennett on at Mile Madness this September. His story is exactly why we created this race — to welcome every runner, celebrate every journey, and build a community where people like Bennett can find their tribe and push beyond what they ever thought possible.
