Hike and Hit
Hike & Hit is a beautiful marriage between hiking in serene landscapes & martial arts/functional training. Lead by 3 individuals, Jose, Brett & Nate.
: Earth Day is every day. 🌎
See trash. Pick it up. Leave it better than you found it.
Pack It In. Pack It Out.
: Pack It Out
Heading outside? Pack some water. Bring some snacks. Maybe download the map before you lose service. 😂 And whatever you bring with you, bring it back out! Wrappers. Bottles. Dog waste bags. Yep, even your banana peels and orange peels.
Want some extra trail karma? Throw a trash bag in your pack and pick up a few pieces on the way out. It doesn’t take much.
See trash. Pick it up. See a snake. Mind your business.
Pack it in. Pack it out.

“I learned more on this hike than I expected.”
Those words came from one of the students we had the privilege of working with this past school year, and they perfectly capture why we’re so passionate about this work.
Thank you to Twin Rivers Unified School District for trusting Hike & Hit to partner with students from Hillsdale Elementary, Rio Tierra Middle School, Grant Union High School, and Norwood Middle School.
Throughout the year, students explored local trails, cared for their communities through cleanups, challenged themselves physically and mentally, and discovered that growth often begins just outside their comfort zone. We don’t share that student’s quote because it diminishes the classroom or the incredible educators who pour into these students every day. We share it because it reminds us that some lessons are simply experienced differently. Confidence, leadership, teamwork, and respect often come to life when students have the opportunity to apply them in the real world.
Being trusted to do this work in the same communities where Hike & Hit first found its purpose is something we’ll never take for granted. To every administrator, teacher, counselor, site coordinator, staff member, family, and especially every student - thank you for believing in this partnership. We look forward to seeing you on the trail again.
Let’s keep letting the outside in.

: Natomas Unified School District
Summer is officially here, & before we get too far into camping trips, trail miles, & outdoor adventures, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Natomas Unified School District. This school year, we had the privilege of sharing our love for the outdoors with students through our after-school programs. Together we hiked, learned, laughed, challenged ourselves, & discovered that some of life’s best lessons happen outside the classroom.
Each program begins on campus, where students participate in activities focused on mental wellness, physical fitness, leadership development, teamwork, communication, & personal growth. Those lessons then culminate with a hike, where students have the opportunity to put those skills into practice while exploring the outdoors together.
Our goal has never been to create expert hikers. It’s to help young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, strengthen relationships, & learn how to responsibly enjoy the outdoors. Thank you to the students, staff, site coordinators, and families who trusted us to be part of that journey.
We appreciate you.
Let’s keep letting the outside in.

UNPLUGGED ADVENTURES
If service is bad, that’s the point 😅
A couple updates to the calendar, so we wanted to repost the official lineup for the rest of the year 👇
• Our 5/31 adventure has moved from Feather Falls to McCloud Waterfalls. Feather Falls is BEAUTIFUL, but this late into spring it gets a little too exposed & we’re not trying to have folks out there fighting for survival before summertime even starts 😂 McCloud gives us water, shade, & a super chill route.
• Sunset @ Alamere Falls has moved from 7/25 to 7/18 - & we’ll also be celebrating our co-founder Romo’s birthday out there so yeah, that one might get a little legendary.
And who knows, there may or may not be a fresh Auburn Alehouse collab beer waiting for us by then 👀🍺
Unplugged Adventures is really just us inviting y’all into the experiences we already love ourselves : sunrise hikes, golden-hour trails, good conversations, community, movement, & moments that make you forget to check your phone for a while.
Same intention. Different trails.

: Mental Health Awareness Month
At Hike & Hit, we like to think of it as Mental Fitness. Since nearly the very beginning of us getting outdoors to strengthen our own mental fitness, Old Trapper has been right there supporting the journey. From hikes & campsites to road trips & community events, they’ve shown us love for years.
So when they heard we were working with student-athletes through our Grant Union Baseball program, they immediately jumped at the opportunity to support that too. We’ve learned that movement, mentorship, community, accountability, purpose, & simply feeling like you belong can truly change lives. From the trails to the dugout, we’re just trying to help build healthier humans from the inside-out.
Big love to Old Trapper for continuing to pour into our community.

: Waterfall Wednesday Update
We’re making a quick pivot for our Sunday 5/31 hike. As much as we love Feather Falls, it’s a little too exposed this time of year & we’re not trying to have anybody out there fighting heat stroke.
McCloud Waterfalls it is.
We’ll be starting at Lower Falls and making our way up to Middle & Upper - super chill, easy hike, no pressure, no “event” vibes. Just good people getting outside together. If you’ve been looking for something more laid back, this is your one. We’ll be camping out at Burney Falls that weekend & driving over to meet everyone that morning.
More details are up on the website, and we’ll keep sharing info as we get closer.

A little twist to our famous tennis ball reflex game. 😜

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about what Hike & Hit Athletics actually looks like, so here’s a little window into it. But truth is, it didn’t start here. It started with moments like these. Early mornings, late nights, circles in the grass, conversations that didn’t stay on the field. Earning trust one rep, one session, one relationship at a time.
These photos aren’t just highlights. They’re the work. They’re the reason we’re in the position we’re in today. Grateful doesn’t even cover it. believed in us, trusted us, and gave us the opportunity to help launch something bigger than just sports. It’s not just reps. It’s not just drills. It’s not just workouts. It’s learning how to show up for yourself and for the people next to you.
Some days that looks like competing. Some days it’s listening. Some days it’s getting uncomfortable and leaning into it anyway. How we do one thing is how we do most things, and these sessions are about building that standard.
If you’ve been watching & wanna tap in, come learn more tomorrow!
