Congrats to Multisport Endurance Academy athlete Sohaib Sajid!
A couple of years ago, Sohaib came to me wanting to learn how to swim.
Since then, he's completed multiple Ironman races, but this weekend he took on one of triathlon's most iconic challenges: Escape from Alcatraz.
And make no mistake—the Alcatraz swim is no joke. Cold water, currents, chop, navigation, and a healthy dose of nerves all come with the territory.
What impresses me most is Sohaib's willingness to keep pushing his comfort zone and seeing what's possible.
From learning to swim to Ironman distance triathlons... to escaping Alcatraz.
Not bad, my friend.
Congratulations, Sohaib!

Congratulations to Amy Piercy on her 1st Place Age Group Finish at TBF Tri for Real!
Back in December, Amy came to me with a goal of racing Ironman California.
There was just one problem...
She was battling a severe case of plantar fasciitis and had a doctor's note that said no running.
Many athletes would have put their goals on hold.
Amy didn't.
Instead, we focused on what she could do.
We attacked the injury with mobility work, built her swim, developed her bike fitness, and stayed patient. While her foot healed, she became a stronger swimmer than ever before and turned into an absolute powerhouse on the bike.
When her doctor cleared her to run, we gradually reintroduced it, adapting the plan as her body allowed and letting consistency—not ego—drive the process.
Today, that patience paid off.
🥇 1st Place Age Group
TBF Racing Tri for Real Olympic Distance Triathlon
This wasn't just a podium finish.
It was proof that setbacks don't have to become stop signs.
Amy, congratulations on an incredible race and an even more impressive comeback. The best part? We're just getting started on the road to Ironman California.
Mad props!

Alright… no excuses tonight.
We’re getting after it.
Beer & River Run crew is meeting under the Watt Avenue Bridge at the American River Watt Avenue access.
Run first. Beer after. Same rules apply.
Start time: 6:15pm
Run up to 60 minutes. Back at the bridge around 7:15.
Bring your shoes. Bring your people. Bring a good attitude.
Chair + post-run refresher encouraged.
Let’s turn that midweek slump into something worth talking about.
See you under the bridge.

Train hard. Make progress. Something flares up. Start over.
If that cycle feels familiar, you’re not alone—and it’s fixable.
I just rebuilt my site to clearly lay out how I coach endurance athletes to build speed and durability together so progress doesn’t keep getting reset.
It’s not about doing more workouts.
It’s about training in a way your body can actually sustain.
If you care about long-term progress, this will hit home:
