BREAKING: Former 49ers star OLB Aldon Smith has passed away at the age of 36.

The 49ers issued the following statement:

“We are devastated by the sudden and tragic passing of Aldon Smith. Aldon’s undeniable talent and sheer dominance on the field were on display from the moment he joined our organization, having recorded one of the best rookie seasons the National Football League has seen. Beyond his excellence as a player, Aldon will be remembered for his infectious smile that lit up every room he walked into. Our entire organization sends its deepest condolences to the Smith family and all who knew and loved Aldon.”

Smith, who was a 1x First-team All-Pro (2012) and a 1x Pro Bowler (2012), last played in the NFL in 2021.

Record deal: The Chiefs are adding two years to Patrick Mahomes’ contract, tying him to Kansas City through the 2033 season at a value of $504.75 million, making it the first NFL deal valued at over a half-billion dollars, per and me.

Equity Sports CEO Chris Cabott, and Chiefs GM Brett Veach and his staff, put the finishing touches on the landmark agreement today.

Patriots HC Mike Vrabel says the team is not pursuing a reunion with WR Stefon Diggs, rejecting the possibility of signing him at this time.

“We’re happy with where we’re at right now… I appreciate Stefon as a person, and as a player, and for what he did for us last year. I’ll value that. Helped us win football games. Helped us get to where we got. But, right now I don’t think that that’s something that we’re exploring,” Vrabel said.

Diggs, 32, hauled in 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and 4 TD for the Patriots last season.

The Patriots released Diggs on March 11th.

WR AJ Brown was a no show for the team’s second day of mandatory minicamp, per source. The star receiver, traded to New England from Philadelphia last week, was expected to participate in the team’s three-day session.
