Shining a little limelight on Jun Buggy

This moment has been a long time coming, and that standing ovation was so well deserved 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

He may not be the best co****le player 😂, but he’s one hell of a mentor, a friend, and a true leader in our community.

Jun has always been a mentor, brother, and uncle to others for years without needing recognition. He has gained the utmost respect for the work he has done & the lives he has touched.

Co****le is another way for him to bring people together through laughter, connection, community, and friendly competition.

I’m incredibly proud to call you my husband. Thank you for continuing to believe in me the same way I’ll always believe in you. Keep doing the work, even when no one is watching. People see you ❤️

Jun and his wife, Pin, co-founded the Rhode Island Southeast Asian Baggerz co****le club as a nonprofit because they believe representation matters and community matters.

Today, Jun had the honor of speaking to Leadership Rhode Island’s Chi II class about Prison Reform & Reentry. His wife, Pin, a member of this year’s cohort, had the opportunity to hear him speak in this capacity for the first time.

The Leadership RI class is made up of 76 leaders from across our state, representing nonprofits, state agencies, private companies, the military, and many other sectors. They are founders, executive directors, attorneys, chiefs, community leaders, and professionals with years of experience and education behind them.

And today, they listened to Jun.

When you see him at a co****le tournament, you know him as Jun Buggy. When you see his wife, you probably know her as “The Boss” or “The Admin.”But there is another side of Jun that some of you may not know—he is a man who strongly believes that community matters and that communities thrive when people feel supported, seen, heard, and valued.

That belief is also at the heart of why we created RI Southeast Asian Baggerz.

Our club is a place where everyone is welcome, because we know what it feels like to be in spaces where we didn't always feel like we belonged. Our mission has never been just about becoming better co****le players. It's about creating a safe and welcoming space where people can connect, laugh, compete, build friendships, and simply have fun.

Today was a reminder that there is so much more behind the person throwing those bags every week.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

We are incredibly proud of you Jun!!! Keep being the leader you are, keep using your story to make a difference, and keep shining.
