Picking my battles over here.
Who you spend your time with? We care.
How you spend your spending cash? Not so much. Teens learn best by wasting their own money on nails that are on the carpet more often than their fingers.
That’s my best mom of teens financial advice as a financial coach - give them liberty to make their own decisions (mostly) with their own money.

Permission slip, not a to-do list. 📝
You don’t need a financial overhaul to feel more in control — sometimes it’s just giving yourself permission to do the thing that actually feels good (and skip the thing that doesn’t).
Save this for the next time you’re spiraling about money and forgetting it’s supposed to work for you, not against you.
Which one do you need to hear today? 👇
The pressure to always be scaling is real but it is not a requirement. Staying small on purpose is a strategy. You do not owe anyone a growth story.

Monday the stick of deodorant was officially declared done when it scraped my arm pits on the way up and back down. I tossed it.
Tuesday I pulled my bathroom drawer open and got ready for the day. All the goods are in there. Or were.
Late afternoon Tuesday I smell - myself, and realize that I had forgotten deodorant. We have spares in the hall closet and I hadn’t grabbed a replacement for my bathroom drawer.
Easily remedied, and thankfully no clients were afflicted of my all natural odor that day through the Zoom screen.
But I realized how very easy it was to forget a step when all the supplies are not right in front of you.
Working on consistently taking your morning supplements? Put them in the coffee cabinet.
Starting a habit of early morning devotion? Leave your journal and Bible or books on the coffee table.
Wanting to read more and scroll less in the evenings? Charge your phone in the bathroom and put your book on the nightstand next to your battery operated alarm clock.
Wanting to get out of debt and stop using your credit cards? Take the credit cards out of your wallet and off your devices.
We have enough to remember on a daily basis. Don’t make it harder on your brain. Set yourself up for success with simple in (or out) of the way placements.
We call it being resourceful! People still accept change as payment. 🤪
As a financial coach, I practice what I preach. And I preach to honor your future self while also paying attention to what you need right now.
Your future self has goals and wants you to stay on budget. A new month is coming! Right now you want coffee - grab your quarters and bottoms up! ☕️
Nobody has yet taken a nail file or hair ties as a form of currency, also routinely in this front pocket. 🤣
Maybe you’ve been dreaming about leaving your job for months. Maybe you wanted to leave yesterday.
Here’s the thing: wanting out and being ready to go are two different things. And the gap between them isn’t about courage. It’s about a plan.
Month 1 is about clarity. Get honest about where you actually want to go and what it’s going to take to get there. Stabilize what you’ve got now before you build anything new.
Month 2 is about runway. You need enough savings to carry you through the gap, because the goal is never to leave a job before you have the next one lined up (unless your situation truly demands it). This part might take longer than a month. That’s okay.
Month 3 is about the leap itself. Salary requirements. Benefits. Total compensation. What happens to your coverage, your insurance, your retirement contributions in that in-between window. This is the step people skip, and it’s the one that costs them.
Don’t just turn and take the next job that comes along. Get clear on all of it first, so the decision you make is actually the right one for you.
Save this if you’ve been thinking about your next move.
