Driving into downtown Milwaukee this AM for the USA Triathlon National Championships…watching one of my athletes race in the draft legal event, and myself competing in the Open Water Swim event for the 3rd time.
Less that a week ago I was at the USA Triathlon Youth and Junior National Championships watching kids as young as 7 bravely start their races on a chilly rainy morning.
Race day nerves are normal but thinking of those kids makes me feel so proud of them and makes my anxieties feel so small in comparison to what I imagine they are thinking
Coaching, competing and being saturated in this sport that I’ve been pursuing for 22 years a spontaneous thought came to my mind this AM.
I’m living my best life. Right now. Race day nerves and all.
Thankful I am still coaching and competing at 57 (race age 58)
