Life Returns!
This metaphor is not lost on me. As the water returns to the canal, it brings life. Not just to nature, but to all of us. As the fish return, so do the fisherman. As the birds return, so do the birders. The turtles show their faces again and I, once again, count them instead of miles, as this seems like a better gauge of how good a ride is.
Owing your own business is rewarding, yet can be stressful at times. Just like the squirrels, I must gather my "nuts" in summer so I have enough for the cold months. Some days I start working when I wake and am still at it at 7 or 8pm. This can be tiring, even draining, But for this i would trade nothing. For to have a business in this amazingly beautiful place we call Bucks County is a blessing. This morning's ride took me up the canal to Easton and back to Reiglesville for breakfast at Mullers. To see the canal full of water again brought life back to this tired old man. To see heron, both blue and green, turtle, duck, fish, even wild butterfly bushs filled me with this peace that can only come from contentment. A feeling deep within that all is right in the world again.
Its been close to 40 years since the canal was full. And should only be a few more months until the water pushes its way thru. All the way from Easton to Bristol. This, fills me, with joy.
So like the water, I to shall "push" my way thru until the cold stops me. The constant turning of the wheel takes us down the trail and, in time, renews us all. So, keep riding, as without the turning of the wheel, we cannot push thru and become whole again.
Vive La Velo!! ( Long live the Bicycle)
