✨ DSDCTA MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Kaylyn Taylor! ✨

This month, we’re turning the spotlight towards our DSDCTA President, Kaylyn Taylor!

Kaylyn has been a DSDCTA member for 4 years, but her love of horses goes back much further. Her equestrian journey began when her father was deployed to Iraq and her grandparents introduced her to riding lessons to bring a little light into her life. Little did they know, they were creating a lifelong horse girl!

And then there’s Smoke, aka “Shall We Dance.”

Smoke is a 19-year-old Trakehner who Kaylyn describes as goofy, loving, and—most importantly—a SERIOUS snack enthusiast.

But Smoke is much more than a four-legged partner. He’s Kaylyn’s heart horse, her safe place, and the one who can make even the worst days feel a little better.

These days, Kaylyn and Smoke are embracing a new chapter. She has chosen to semi-retire him and focus on what really matters: enjoying the ride, the partnership, and all the fun along the way.

And speaking of fun…

🐴 Favorite movement: Shoulder-in to half-pass
🧀🥂 Horse-show essentials: Cheese & champagne—because dressage requires proper nutrition!
🧁 Smoke’s favorite treat: German muffins
💕 Favorite part of showing: Hanging out with her horse friends

When asked what advice she would give another rider, Kaylyn kept it short and sweet:

“Enjoy the ride—you work too hard not to!”

Kaylyn, thank you for all you do for DSDCTA, and for reminding us that sometimes the best part of this sport is simply spending time with good people, good horses, and maybe a little cheese and champagne. 😉🥂

🌟 DSDCTA Member Spotlight: Annlouise Kildow 🌟

This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Annlouise! A dedicated DSDCTA member, Annlouise has generously supported our organization through sponsorships, donations, and countless acts of kindness. She’s especially known for creating the most beautiful and thoughtful welcome gifts for our show officials and clinicians.

🐴 Meet Her Equine Partners:
Annlouise currently owns and rides two Swedish Warmbloods:
✨ Sir Doriol aka Dorian – a talented 10-year-old who’s had great success in competing at Fourth Level and making his PSG debut this competition year.
✨ Marengo – a 15-year-old Swedish Warmblood who keeps things interesting with his spicy personality!

🏆 Current Goals:
Annlouise is making her PSG debut with Dorian while continuing to develop Marengo at Fourth Level. Her long-term goal? Reaching the Grand Prix level.

💙 A Journey Across Continents:
Growing up in Sweden, dressage was simply part of everyday riding. Before dedicating herself to dressage, she competed on the Open Jumper circuit until she was 23, bringing a well-rounded equestrian background to her training today.

🌟 A Proud Moment:
One accomplishment she’ll never forget is earning 6th Place at the 2021 Regional Championships—a milestone that reflects years of dedication and hard work.

💬 Favorite Part of Riding:
“I love improving my training.”

💡 Advice for Fellow Riders:
“Enjoy the ride and don’t get caught up in the race.”

🍬 Horses Favorite Treat:
When it’s time for a reward, both horses are happy to accept sugar cubes!

Thank you, Annlouise, for being a dedicated member and generous sponsor of DSDCTA ! We can’t wait to cheer you on as you continue your journey toward Grand Prix.
