It is a time of transitions and shifting roles to prepare the horse team for fall. Wishing our oldest girl Misty (turning 30 next year!) all the relaxation and happiness she deserves as she officially moved into her full-time pasture retirement best life with the other retirees in my backyard yesterday! So content and comfortable right from the start (check out that roll of joy!), and suddenly feeling quite youthful in her new freedom (she came CANTERING up the hill from the pasture to see where the other two horses went at one point, I did not know her old legs could physically still do that, I wish I’d gotten video😆)!

Pistol, Spirit, and Greystone are back from their week at the Wayne County Fair! Ask their riders about their accomplishments when you see them! 🙌 And the end of Fair means that as exhausted as I am, it’s time to start thinking about the start of FALL SESSIONS! 😅 We’ll see all of our riders back soon for lots of exciting new surprises for the fall season!

I almost never make an appearance in photos because I’m always behind the camera, but getting to be Maddy’s partner for the Silly Summer Photo Scavenger Hunt called for some selfies 🤣 Also got to see this Star rider end the summer with progressing into holding a 2-point position at a trot over a pole for the first time 🤩

Part of the fun of Horse Care class is getting introduced to a different horse or pony to work with each class, and they all come away with having made a connection with a special favorite by the end 💕

The two oldest horses on our team got to beat the heat of mid-July with another bath and spa day 🛀 It is fun to have students teamed up to work at the bathing tasks together—Dylan and Misty were definitely squeaky clean by the end with so many hands to do the scrubbing! 🧽🧼🫧

As today is National Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we’d like to ask our supporters to honor the memory of all the beautiful senior equine souls who have contributed to our program before their time to cross that bridge, by making a donation towards the final veterinary care and end-of-life expenses of the horse team members we had to say goodbye to this summer, and towards sponsoring the adoption of our newest rescued horse who will help step in the gap they left behind (pictured here, coming home to us Saturday from Copper Horse Crusade, big reveal tomorrow!). So many projects crossed off the “need-to-do-but-not-enough-time” list today, thanks to this employee volunteer group from Scotts Miracle-Gro! Getting the facility cleaned up from summer and ready for fall sessions to resume, their list included planting perennials around the sign, removing rocks from pastures, de-cobwebbing and dusting the main aisle and stalls, installing hardware to organize helmets, hanging the fancy clock, packing up Christmas decorations from the fundraiser, scrubbing and sanitizing buckets, feeders, and grooming supplies—and they crossed EVERY task off the board before they left! 🙌
