I wrote this in my journal this morning after reflecting on the concept of adjusting one's internal "set point." Just like with a thermostat set to a normal temperature will work really hard to keep things at "comfortable," we humans have a similar internal set point which keeps us in a certain zone.
When it's feeling like you're working hard to change yourself but nothing really changes, it's due to this hard truth: until you change how you see yourself and act in line with new expectations consistently, you will probably stay at your current set point.
Because we can never outperform our own self image, we must FIRST work on that.
Ugh, I know - it's not easy. But it WORKS!
So, if nothing changes within, nothing changes without. Consistency is one of the best factors to successful change, because when we do something every day, we prove to ourselves we can; we validate the possibility, and we start to see this as normal...over time.
As I planned my week, I included the "success structure" I need to achieve those next goals. (Thank you to the experience last week for the reminder I needed!)
So, as you consider your goals and ideas of what success looks like...what type of structure do you need to be successful?

Who needs this reminder today (with me)? **What needs to be done that doesn't need more polishing? **What have you been putting off because it feels too big or you're afraid it won't be perfect?
KNOCK IT OUT, BABY!
For me, perfectionism challenges still show up, but I'm MUCH more productive and happy!!
So far this year, I've been using the "Top 3" technique daily and striving to let go or adjust the rest. It works! Similar to/works with Eat That Frog.
(Plus daily mental hygiene to stay sane, lol.) It's a process!

Meeting of the minds. I always enjoy where the conversation takes us, and the "lift" in energy & creativity (it's not just the coffee)!

This morning on the treadmill, I was reflecting on how I GET to run, not "have to" and realized this applies to MANY things we face throughout the day- Sometimes we fall into a mindset of having to do things, going through the motions, or criticizing situations/people that aren't perfect... It helps to acknowledge that we are making choices AND that sometimes we are truly privileged to have things that seem like "problems."
This could sound like:
I GET to walk my dog outside in all kinds of weather.
I GET to deal with this traffic on my way to work in a vehicle that runs.
I GET to participate in this call.
I GET to shop for groceries and have choices for dinner.
I GET to run.
I GET to ______.
What's yours today?
