Surprise! The newest member of the Omaha Safe Swim team arrived late Friday night. He was so excited to get to the pool, baby boy arrived six weeks early.

Miss Emily and baby Hunter are doing great. Little man will spend some time in the NICU growing stronger before he’s ready to master his float.

With baby’s early arrival and a maternity leave timeline change, Miss Emily is tentatively planning to return to the pool mid to late July for a July ISR session. This session will have very limited spots, as Miss Emily will only be back in the pool a few hours a day. For more information on July and future sessions, please join our waitlist and watch your email for updates. Waitlist families will be notified first via email.

Miss Emily is still available via email and messenger, but your patience with a longer response time is appreciated.

I love the comparison of car seats to swim lessons. How many times do our little ones cry and kick and scream when they’re put in a car seat? They’re communicating they’re uncomfortable, but we as parents do it anyway because we know it keeps them safe. Learning self rescue swim skills is the same thing. It’s uncomfortable at first, but I can save their life.

Our May session kiddos are rocking week 2🤩
And Miss Emily’s bump is rocking that wetsuit 😂

Here’s the real question: Do you think the wetsuit will stretch another 5 weeks with Miss Emily’s baby bump??

If swim lessons just jumped to the top of your mind this week, you’re not alone. Summer ISR lessons are officially full 💙

As soon as the weather warms up and water is suddenly everywhere, inquiries pour in. This year alone, we received over 150 inquiries in March and April, and our summer spots were filled by early March.

If that’s you right now, you’re not behind. You’re aware, and that matters.

Here’s what you can do next:

✔️ Get on the schedule for September (now open)
ISR isn’t just a “summer activity.” Kids who learn going into fall often hold onto their skills even better because they keep practicing beyond peak swim season.

✔️ Think long term, not just seasonal
ISR students have a 94%+ skill retention rate one year later. With simple maintenance lessons just 1–3 times a month, those lifesaving skills stay sharp.

✔️ Focus on safety this summer
Even without formal lessons right now, there is so much you can do:
Stay within arm’s reach around water
Designate a distraction free water watcher
Skip floatation devices in the pool and get in the water with your kids
Layer protections like fences, alarms, and supervision

Because here’s the truth: drowning doesn’t have a season.

☀️May is Water Safety Awareness Month, and I’ll be sharing simple, practical safety tips your family can start using right away at home, at the pool, or on vacation.

If ISR has been on your heart, don’t wait for next summer.
September enrollment is open now, and it fills quickly.

Head to the link in our bio or message me to grab a spot or get more info.

“ISR gives your child a chance to live”

That sounds dramatic, but drowning prevention really is that serious. Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children 4 and under, and is preventable.

Maintenance Lesson sign up is now open for May and June!!

Maintenance lessons are for kiddos that have completed their ISR session in the last year, and want to keep their skills and confidence sharp. Regular maintenance lessons help prevent skill regression and picking up bad habits from recreational swimming (super common as outdoor swim season is upon us!).

Parents can sign up for maintenance lessons via their Scheduler portal, or send us a message! As lesson slots fill, additional will be added so continue to check back.

Can’t wait to see you back in the pool!
