Notes for Region 8 Meet
Coaches and Unattached Athletes:
Registration has just closed and I wanted to share a few notes on procedures for the Region 8 Meet this week at Gretna High School
Tents/Team Camps
Tents may be placed in the top row of the bleachers on either side of the track; excluding the center 3 sections in the center of the grandstand on the press box side. Team camps may be set up behind the east bleacher in grass area beyond the black fence. Camps/Tents should not be set up south of the bleachers in the grass. There are signs posted where camp set up should end.
No tents should be set up in any other locations
Please see the attached map
Coaches Credentials
Coaches should check in at the coaches window at the front gate to receive their wristband. Only coaches on the USATF Coaches Registry will be given a wristband which will allow access to all coaches boxes and the practice area.
Coaches can greatly speed up the check in process by filling out this form
Coaches who are not on the USATF Coaches Registry will not be given a wristband, and will be expected to pay for their admission.
Athletes Entering the Track
All athletes should enter the track through the hipping area unless escorted by an official through a different route.
Warm-Up Area:
Athletes should warm up on the upper soccer field west of the track. Coaches, with wristbands, are permitted in the warm-up area. Parents are not allowed in the warm-up area.
Hipping
Check-in and Hipping will take place in the grass between the practice area and the track on the south side of the concourse. Athletes should come to the hipping area “race ready” they should not have extra items in this area. Coaches nor parents are permitted in the hipping area.
High Jump Coaches
Coaches who need to access the infield for High Jump will enter through the gate on the northwest side of the track. Coaches must have a coaches wristband, and must go directly to the coaches box on the infield. At the conclusion of high jump the coaches must exit the infield.
Coaches Boxes
Coaches in the Field event areas must remain in the coaches box during their athletes events. Coaches not in the coaches box will be asked to return to the coaches box or leave the area.
Field Events Area
The field events area to the north of the track is fenced off. Only athletes currently in a field event and coaches with wristbands (in coaches boxes) will be permitted in this area. Spectators must remain on the outside of the fenced area to the south or in the raised viewing area to the west. Tents may not be set up on the sidewalk.

The Hammer Throw and Javelin Throw will be held in the field to the west of the stadium (South of the school building). The Javelin runway is a synthetic track surface athletes need to wear flat soled shoes or spikes on this surface. Molded soccer/football type cleats will not be allowed.
