Fantastic Woolf PAC members:

The Giving Circles Fund, Woolf Pac's web platform, surprised us last week with the announcement that it would be shutting down operations--and this week, this is now so.

I'm sad for this unexpected turn, and also fantastically proud for what the 105 members of our Woolfer "giving circle" were able to accomplish since we launched in January 2017: to wit, grants totaling $41,724.92 to a wide range of progressive not-for-profits at risk in our current political landscape.

Within the next week, the $7052.02 now in the Woolf Pac kitty will be directed in total to The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights - New York, the "winner" of our most recent cycle.

GCF will no longer be charging our credit cards, needless to say, and there's nothing members need to do.

Special thanks to the small group of stellar women who were in the Woolf Pac trenches with me from the start: Stephanie Gangi, Diana Kane English, RuthAnne Gersten, Meret Lenzlinger, Janna Schnur Turoff, Resa Matthews and Beth Lee Segal. (Can we please keep meeting for "planning meetings" over martinis at Balthazar even though there's nothing left to plan?)

And, please: may we continue to harness the power of our wondrous collective to do some good in this hurting world.

The Woolfer (Nina/Sidney/Tulani/Kara etc) is "taking over" the management of Woolf PAC, although the original team (Jenny et al) will continue to be very involved:) Nominations for the next cycle start Friday, October 4, and we're here announcing that the next theme is ELIMINATING SEXUAL VIOLENCE. We're in the final days of PROTECT IMMIGRANT FAMILIES and only 15% of us have voted so far, so please log-in and vote! Also, let's try harder to spread the word about this Giving Circle -- it's really quite amazing and we only have a little over 100 women here.

Since Woolf PAC’s inception a year and a half ago, we’ve granted $34,673 to deserving 501(c)3s under siege in our current political landscape. Our 105 members donate $25/month, and we're all made stronger for banding together. A just-received thank you note to Woolf Pac from Rights4Girls!

Woolf PAC update! Our last quarter (focusing on Criminal Justice Reform) recently closed, and grants in the amount of $2458 are being sent out this week to the three non-profits who received the most votes from our 107 members: Rights4Girls (nominated by Beth A. Maliner), Edwins Leadership & Restaurant Institute (nominated by RuthAnne Gersten) and Equal Justice Initiative (nominated by Barbara Kass).

That's a total of $7374, women, in one quarter alone! Fighting for good in this country can feel like an uphill climb these days--and we are making a difference.

Our new quarter's focus is Protect Immigrant Families, and for the next six weeks, members have the chance to nominate excellent non-profits that do just that. Nominations close on September 3, followed by month-long voting period. (Oh! And we've made the recent decision to simplify things, and amplify our individual grants, by giving to just *one* grantee each quarter moving forward.)

Woolf PAC's current cycle--in which we're working to support CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM--will draw to a close on July 1st, and members have nominated some important non-profits for grant consideration.

Our nominees:? Rights4Girls (suggested by Beth A. Maliner); The Bronx Freedom Fund (put forth by Felicia Park-Rogers); Vera Institute of Justice (with thanks to Theresa Trzaskoma); The Marshall Project (suggested by Cherie Henderson); Common Justice (nominated by Meret Lenzlinger); Edwins Leadership & Restaurant Institute (suggested by RuthAnne Gersten); The Last Mile (nominated by Tamara Lyons); and the Equal Justice Initiative (nominated by Barbara Kass). Members wishing to cast their votes should do so by the July 1st deadline. (The top three "winners" will equally share in the $$ generated from this quarter's kitty.)

Woolf PAC gave over $27,000 in grants last year by dint of our 100 members pledging $25/month in this collective giving effort. New members are welcome at any time (and existing members are free to drop out at any time).

Our next cycle begins on July 2nd. And our new theme is the one it has to be: PROTECT IMMIGRANT CHILDREN.
