I saw this u10 this morning on the ice doing his warm up skating routine.
Whilst everyone else is messing around. Here he is doing his warm up routine.
Honestly it made me so happy as a coach.
These are the moments you love to see.
The kid has been on a skating camp before and took from the camp the warm up routine and does it every time he jumps on the ice.
Whilst everyone else is skating around shooting - he’s getting ready.
This is amazing to see 🥹
Thomas Sanderson you’ll like this one 🤝

LET’S TALK CULTURE
Coaching in the US, Sweden, Denmark, UK, Norway, France, Denmark, Finland, Hungary - I have seen a lot of cultures.
I have heard a lot of excuses as to why a player can’t get to x or y - mainly because they feel they aren’t in the US. It’s just not true.
Anze Kopitar - from Slovenia…
But what I see is that people accept the status quo. We train 2 times a week and that’s it… ok so what is stopping you training more - maybe roller skate, go public session, shoot more at home, work on your film and study, become a better athlete?
Just because the culture is the way that it is - doesn’t mean you have to accept that and allow for your dreams to die without even trying.
Hockey is a game and sport that requires total focus. It is so important to focus on what you need to improve on.
Coaching in the US there are a lot of games at the youth level. But that’s not helping the player. That’s about the culture - winning.
The culture of college hockey is about the player - more development in the weight room - shorter season and less games. Whilst also focusing on winning - although now these guys and gals are in their 20s…
Don’t allow the culture to define you. You can define the culture.
