Writing shapes the soul of every idea, from concept to creation. At Lower East Studios, we believe that good writing finds its voice through rhythm and meaning. Rhythm builds rapport with your audience. It demonstrates attention to detail and a desire to connect. Meaning gives weight to your wordplay. It helps you to remove anything that obscures your message. Rhythm and meaning will combine to make your brand memorable. You won’t be the only one telling your story—your audience will tell it for you.

Anything can happen when you inspire people to dig deep and tell their own stories. We set the stage by creating multi-city experiential events to help launch the Nike campaign. Working with Milk Agency and Milk Studios, we conceived experiences that took top editors and influencers from ten weeks of training in NY and LA, to running the Nike Women’s 15k in Toronto, to celebrating their journey at Women’s World Cup in Vancouver. Along the way, they got to work out with Brandi Chastain, see their strength captured on camera by Cass Bird and push themselves as athletes through a unique series of moments.

Our favorite songs and most loved memories are connected forever. Song Stories: Bowie brought eclectic storytellers together in NYC, London and Berlin to share Bowie’s influence on their lives. At the end of each story, they asked the Sonos One to play the song that inspired it. With lead agency Cornerstone, we worked with the Bowie estate and Mick Rock to bring never-before-seen images and relics from Bowie’s life into each Sonos space, curated by Paul Gorman. Stories told by Mark Mothersbaugh, Goldie, Peaches, Rostam, Tony Visconti, Alison Goldfrapp and more brought Bowie’s legacy to life in a new way, against the unique cultural landscape of each city.

Concepts are more important than ever. People are quick to decide if something is worth their time before they get in deep. So how do you know if it's a good concept versus an idea that just sounds cool? At Lower East Studios, we ask two questions: what feeling do we want to inspire, and what purpose will the brand play? Feeling incites a visceral reaction and earns attention, the essential first step to building an audience. Without feeling, you jump right into selling and turn people off. Purpose helps people remember the brand’s point of view. Without purpose, you get into creativity for creativity’s sake, and the brand gets lost in the sauce. It all comes down to feeling and purpose. Once we can answer these questions simply and honestly, we’ve got ourselves a concept.
