DTTP is an itinerant and open collective that offers free spaces and opportunities to create, train, perform and learn among peers. Give dance, take dance. Why?

Dance to the People is a female and immigrant led collective of dancers and other collaborators who work in non-hierarchical forms of art making to address social and environmental injustice. We want to do this by fostering an exchange of resources already present in the community: our talents, networks, and ideas. Dance To The People originated first as a response to the needs of dance educators

BYE, we’re leaving this platform. We don’t believe is sustaining a sustainable situation. The cost of our “marketing” (very marginal in our case) or networking, will not be shouldered by immigrants, trans people, black people, indigenous people, mi gente, children’s rights, women’s rights, and most vulnerable of all: nature, the voiceless plants and animals.

We uplift the efforts of many artists, activists, and organizers who have inspired us. We will stay updated by other means (most people have websites).

We have downloaded all our data and will be delete all content.

We will be in our website.

We will not be in other social media platforms.

We will be organizing in person.

Remember, February 28: Economic Blackout.

Support in-depth fact-based journalism. Stay good.

One action to do today as we mourn the loss of so many innocent lives. If you believe in accountability for crimes of war, if you believe in international law, if you believe that children deserve a chance at life, if you believe that, like yourself, no civilian should be targeted in conflict. Go to the link in bio to URGE and to support Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to $20 billion of weapon sales to Israel.
It’s very easy to do the call. They need to hear that you condemn their support of the genocide so far, and that they have an opportunity to stand on the side of humanity.

This costume had its last run.

Made with bags collected at Riverside Dr. one cold night of January 2020, it had its debut at the rooftop of in June 2021. After performing in heavy rain last August at Governor’s Island, it broke and the damage was irreversible. I saved the pieces, but put the plastic in the recycling (at participating store —key foods).

Maybe it will be born again. As artists who work with discarded materials we learn that by letting go we make space for new things to come our way.

We are now in search for subsidized studio space to store and organize collected materials and to work on new costumes. Any leads are welcomed.
