Anay Bhatt’s Soccer4Smiles Removes Financial Barriers to Youth Soccer in the United States and Spain 07/15/2026

Featured in the Press 📰⚽
Soccer4Smiles is honored to see its founder, Anay Bhatt, recognized for his commitment to making youth soccer accessible to all by removing financial barriers in the United States and Spain.

After moving to Spain, Anay gained a new perspective on how soccer can also be a powerful tool for education, personal growth, leadership, and teamwork. That experience inspired Soccer4Smiles to expand its mission beyond access to the game, using soccer as a platform to help young people build confidence, develop life skills, and create meaningful connections both on and off the field.

**What does leadership really mean? ⚽**

Leadership is about so much more than wearing the captain's armband.

Every practice, every game, and every interaction is an opportunity to lead—through your attitude, your effort, and the way you support your teammates. Soccer teaches us that leadership isn't about being the loudest voice; it's about helping those around you grow and making everyone feel like they belong.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is the difference in soccer culture. In the U.S., the focus is often on winning. In Spain, I've seen a greater emphasis on teamwork, player development, and growing together as a team. That perspective has reinforced what we believe at Soccer 4 Smiles: when we prioritize people over results, we build stronger players, stronger leaders, and stronger communities.

Because the best leaders don't just win games—they help others succeed too. ❤️🌍

The FIFA World Cup reminds us why soccer is called the world's game. 🌎⚽

No matter where you go, you'll find children playing with whatever they have—a ball, a homemade goal, or simply an open space. Soccer doesn't require much to begin, but it has the power to create something incredible: connection, belonging, and hope.

At Soccer 4 Smiles, that's exactly what we believe in. Our mission is to make soccer more than just a sport. We want it to be a safe place where children can build confidence, find a second family, learn valuable life skills, and dream bigger.

Because when kids have a place to play, they also have a place to belong. ❤️

We talk about how soccer is one language almost everyone speaks — something that became even more obvious during the World Cup. But while the game connects people across cultures and borders, access to it is still far from equal. For too many kids, the cost of training, equipment, and opportunities keeps the sport out of reach. Through Soccer 4 Smiles, we believe every child deserves the chance to play, grow, and belong — regardless of their financial situation. ⚽❤️

High school sports shape way more than athletic ability.

They shape:
⚽ confidence
⚽ friendships
⚽ mental health
⚽ discipline
⚽ focus
⚽ community

But in the U.S., nearly 70% of kids quit organized sports by age 13.

After moving from the U.S. to Spain, one thing became really clear: when sports stay accessible and part of everyday life, teenagers stay connected — not just to the game, but to each other.

This video is about what young people really lose when sports become too expensive, too pressured, or too exclusive.

And why that matters far beyond the field. ⚽️ ❤️

This was a very impactful video for me, especially because it was a difficult thing to go through, but more so that I know there are people out there who aren’t as lucky to have what I had. In my upcoming videos I want to speak about how the U.S. can learn from Spain. ⚽️ ❤️

Today, what I really wanted to talk about was what happens when kids can’t afford to play the game. Soccer is not only a sport, but a way to connect with peers and be yourself without having to worry about outside stress. In this video, I explain what happens when kids don’t get that chance and why it doesn’t happen in the U.S. ⚽️

The difference between playing ang not playing soccer shouldn't come down to the cost. But in the US, it often does. In this video we’re breaking down how and why soccer looks different in Spain.⚽️

Two years ago, Soccer4Smiles was born out of grief, healing, and my love for the game.

Now from Spain, we are restarting the journey ...exploring how soccer helps kids find belonging, confidence, community and why access to the sport can change lives.

This is just the beginning. Follow along as I share this story!
