Hanging has been a great edition into my day.

I mean if you think about it, we was functionally meant to hang and swing.

Our bodies was built for it.

We have slowly lost that ability from sitting, scrolling and driving.

Hunched over in that protracted position all day.

I was having nerve twitches in my arm, pins and needles in my hands, for months.

As I have some degeneration in my spine from BJJ, boxing, and heavy lifting over the years.

Chiropractic, Osteo, Deep tissue have been great helps and I still do them regularly.

However starting with something simple as hanging into my day was super simple so I thought I’d give it a try.

The day I did it the twitching stopped.

I knew I was onto something.

Dr John M Kersh reported prescribing hanging for his patients that were recommended for shoulder surgery. After hanging 90% ended up not needing that surgery!

I was having some right lower back pain from some emotional work that was lodged in there is suppressed.

The hanging helped me feel into an open to some of this.

That lower back pain has pretty much gone now also.

My neck and shoulders that was all locked up opened up aswell.

This is the thing, we need to look at all things holistically, we need to pay attention to our physical body, how to look after it and optimise it as-well as going deeper into the emotional/mental/spiritual work.

If you only focus on one area you pigeon hole yourself to only one way of healing and treating the root cause.

We need it all combined.

This is why I love what I do with clients, is combing them both, connecting the dots. If there is a problem there is a solution.

This is what I did:

I’m a heavy guy, so I started with feet on the ground and just got used to the feel of it.

Over time I took my feet off and focused on my breath.

I do just one minute a day, sometimes two.

If I miss a few days I do 5 mins through the day.

I also now do single arms hangs as the next progression.

My shoulders, neck, back and posture feel so much lighter and functional now.

Have you tried hanging? I’d love to know your experience aswell?
