Join us for Skate Movie Night!

This month's film is United Skates, a 2018 documentary about roller rink culture. "When America’s last standing roller rinks are threatened with closure, a community of thousands battle in a racially charged environment to save an underground subculture--one that has remained undiscovered by the mainstream for generations, yet has given rise to some of the world’s greatest musical talent."

We will screen the movie at the skate shop on August 1 from 6pm-8pm. It's free and open to all ages. The film is rated PG-13. 

Complimentary popcorn and bottled water will be available; BYO snacks. There will be two benches to sit on, and an area rug up front to lay on if you prefer. You can also bring your own comfy chair. Space is limited; come early to reserve your spot.

Future films and shows will range from lighthearted fantasies to serious documentaries, all with a connection to skating. We hope that you can join us!

Lace up your skates and join us outdoors on the Windward side for a Summer Skate! With the summer season here and nice weather aplenty, here's your excuse to skate outside! So bring your friends and your skates over to the Windward side on July 25 from 5pm-8pm for an all-ages meetup at Enchanted Lake Community Park in Kailua! This free event is open to all ages, genders, and skill levels. Sometime before sunset, Melissa will lead a trail skate along the Keolu Drive bike path; you can also stay at the park and groove to the musical jams provided by ! Skate at your own risk. As you roll through the summer skate season, consider giving your skates a refresher with some new laces, toe stops, or some outdoor wheels! Or maybe even consider gifting yourself a second pair for skating outside, and keeping your old pair and putting indoor wheels on them for the occasional rainy day when you have to go skating at the local skate rink!

A customer came in looking for light up wheels to give her Rainbow Rider Moxi Roller Skates a fresh look. Not only did she get a new set of Luminous Wheels , but she added some FoMac dance plugs by Suregrip Roller Skates and locally made crocheted toe caps by Just b hawaii . And we helped her install them on to her skates so that she's all set and ready to roll at the Sk8 Ambitions Friday Night Takeover later that evening!

We answered all of her questions and made the whole process so much easier, more fun, and more educational (since we taught her how to change out her wheels and equipment on her own for next time).

A little late posting this, but thank you to everyone who came to our last Skate Movie Night in April! Before the movie, we pregamed with some mahjong, and some of us went on a quick skate around Kailua. Right around sunset, the game board and skates were put away, and we settled in for a screening of Skatetown USA.

We will not have a Skate Movie Night in May, but stay tuned for Skate Movie Night in June! Details and film to be announced!

The shop will be closed from May 5-27 as we will be traveling to spend time with friends and family! We appreciate your patience and understanding. Orders placed on our website while we are away will be fulfilled when we return on May 27. In the meantime, be safe, and thank you again for and getting your skates and equipment from us!
