How to Sound More American Instantly...
Singing is the best and quickest way to make your accent sound more American. Many performers sound very American when they sing, but have a completely different accent when speaking.
Try it and see if it works for you.
This does not, however, remove the responsibility on your part to practice daily. Incorporate singing into your daily pronunciation practice and it will certainly get you the results you want OVER TIME.
I also want to point out that there is nothing wrong with having an accent. All accents are beautiful. Concentrate more on how well people understand you. If you feel there is an issue with that, then you should definitely consider making changes.

For my bible lovers out there...
While this quote is referring to speaking in tongues, I thought it was relevant for our purposes as well.
I strongly believe that effective, clear, and confident communication is not optional. It will either make or break your success. In fact, communicating with clarity is the doorway to success.
As an 8 year old immigrant child, I quickly learned that sounds matter. Saying "sank you" creates tension, but "thank you" creates a smile. That lesson stuck with me. Overcoming my own significant communication barriers, combined with over 10 years of experience working as an SLP has equipped me to help you crush the communication barriers in your life.

The Biggest Mistake Non-Native English Speakers Make... And How to Fix It!!
Many of my students tell me that they are really self-conscious of the way they sound, especially during important social settings (such as a meetings, interviews, dates).
Self-consciousness is not the same as self-awareness. When you are self-conscious, you lack confidence, don't believe in yourself, and make unnecessary errors due to nervousness. Self-awareness, on the other hand, allows you to be mindful of your speech, in a healthy way. From this place, you are able to correct yourself immediately, and salvage the conversation.
Accepting the way you sound and becoming more comfortable with it is a critical step in getting out of this destructive mindset. Knowing that many people are in your exact shoes and experience the same feelings can be of great help. Remember that there is nothing wrong with having an accent. It is simply a beautiful imprint of your native language and your roots.
