Closing down US Archives in Chicago, San Bruno, CA and moving files from the Seattle facility means that those researching naturalization records to prove citizenship status, Bureau of Indian Affairs records that prove ancestry of Indigenous people, those who need records of court cases in which they were involved, genealogical resources such as Japanese Issei historical records, and the Chinese Exclusion Act - can all disappear.

If you are interested in the future of the Mississippi River, you are encouraged to attend a meeting in your area. For Delta Chapter members there are two possibilities - Aug. 19th in Vicksburg, MS and Aug. 21st ini Morgan City, LA.

The Mississippi River Commission is heading back on the river.

The Commission's upcoming inspection trip provides an opportunity for Commissioners to hear directly from local stakeholders, partners, and the public about navigation, flood risk management, ecosystem restoration, and other issues affecting the Mississippi River and its tributaries.

Public meetings will be held at stops along the river, allowing attendees the opportunity to learn about current initiatives and share comments with the Commission.
